Jennifer Everitt | 5 comments the book was published in either late 1988 or early (before May) 1989). I'm thinking it was more likely 1989. I only remember 1 thing about the book and that is the couple got married mid way though which was unusual for a historical romance. What I do remember is the cover of the book. The couple both had black hair. she had on a white dress, he had on a white shirt. they are sitting on a white horse (him behind her) and there are purple flowers all around them. House (think tara from gone with the wind) is in the background. The spine of the book had an oval at the top with the cover picture in it. This is important cause not a lot of the romance novels at that time did this.

there were no indians, or pirates in the book. it took place (maybe) in the carolinas.

If you can't help me with the name of the book do you know the publisher who did their book spine like I described?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Jennifer,

Welcome! Sorry can't think of the book or the publisher.
But I will look at paperbacks I have. Do you recall the
basic plot? Friends to lovers? Arranged marriage? Did they
like each other? Was there an antagonist threatening danger?
Good luck.

1) Prince of Midnight by Laura Kinsale from 1990? Model was Fabio.
Man on horse on cover. He's deaf in 1 ear & has vertigo.
But can heroine consider him a hero?

2) I Googled Steve Sandalis "Topaz (cover) man" starting in 1993.
3) I Googled Men on covers: Unsuitable sites @ Duke Express.
4) Googled: 15 hottest new romantic cover hunks: Pinterest
5) Do any of these men look familiar??

Publishers of my historical rom paperbacks thus far: Avon,
Miles and Boon, Pocket Books (Simon & Schuster), St.
Martin's Press, Sourcebooks, Zebra. And no oval logo on
spine.

I will look again tomorrow after an outing w/ friends.
Signed, Cheryl

Hi Jennifer---

I was not doubting you on 1989. Thought it might be the Topaz
man, but he came along a few yrs later.

Thought I recalled a couple with black hair on a cover, but he stood behind her, it had an oval logo. Went online and saw maybe 100 publishing logos, none looked like it.

Do you recall a bit more RE the story? Regency? Victorian? Were they both aristos? Sorry I'm not much help thus far.

Jennifer Everitt | 5 comments All I remember is that it was set in the US. The only thing I remember was that they got married. Which in most Historical Romance books didn't happen during the story. After all these years it's more the cover that stands out for me.

Jennifer,

I've looked at many covers, & saw a few MCs on separate horses. Not what you wanted. Unfortunately, publishers change the covers of books periodically. One of my fav romance books has had 2-3 covers, over time, for the same book.

Goodreads group "Historical Romance" & thread Discussion 16:
