message 15: by GailW (new)

GailW (abbygg) I'm too old to remember childhood books BUT since I started reading Agatha Christie at the age of 12 (Nancy Drew got boring and my parents had no idea. they only cared that I was reading!), I'm going to reread And Then There Were None, which I THINK was the first one of hers that I read.

I’ll probably put that on my list too. I have fond memories of the Trixie Belden series.

message 27: by Natalie Piccotti (new)

Natalie Piccotti | 54 comments I've been re-reading all of my childhood favorites with my daughter in the last few years including Anne of Green Gables, A Wrinkle in Time, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Pippi Longstocking and it's been a few years now since Winnie-the-Pooh so I'm going to either read that or All Creatures Great and Small.

Natalie Piccotti | 54 comments Anna wrote: "I plan to read A Wrinkle in Time and my alternate is Jane Eyre."
Both excellent choices!

message 29: by Shantea (new)

Shantea (feralorchid) | 2 comments It took forever to think of a book but I reread The Giving Tree. One of the most polarizing children’s books. I liked it as a kid, and I still do. Of course I see why a lot of people don’t. But I do. First task done!

message 30: by Emily (last edited Jan 06, 2025 06:56AM) (new)

Emily Charpentier (echarpentier) | 4 comments The first book that came to mind for me was Anne of Green Gables, but it's so fresh for me because I'm always revisiting some kind of Anne media.

On the other hand, I don't think I've reread any Tamora Pierce novels as an adult, and I kind of think I'd like to revisit Alanna or Kel.

message 31: by Kate (new)

Kate Bunnicula, anyone?

That is the book that immediately came to mind for me as well!

ETA: I'm actually having a hard time remembering what books I enjoyed as a kid other than one now, LOL. But finally came up with a few more after looking at my bookshelves:

My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George
The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen

I didn't actually read Tamora Pierce until I was an adult and both of her universes are so so good. I particularly love her Circle of Magic books done by Full Cast Audio.

Pride and Prejudice (Great Illustrated Classics) by Fern Siegel

message 49: by Krista (new)

Krista | 143 comments I am seriously having trouble thinking of a book from my childhood to reread. Is a favorite book from my teenage years work as my 'childhood' if I'm in my 50s now? LOL

I say yes. Reading challenges are supposed to be fun not stressful.
