I've read some of the Dark Tower books, not sure how far I ever got, but it's an excellent series. The same goes for the Dublin Murder Squad books; I've read a couple of them... I need to get back to the Miss Peregrine books. I really liked the 1st one. Enjoy your 2025 selections. Merry Xmas!

Ooooohhh, I really like this list, Faouzia!

TWTtK was such a fun reminder of a great series. A story within a tale within a saga. 🤌🏾

Loved the Lunar Chronicles; and Winter was a great ending. Fairest is a great in-betweener with an incredible cover!

I'm finally making my way through Miss Peregrines series, and am loving it. I hate that I waited so long to get back into it.

Good luck and happy reading. I will definitely be checking out those others. I like a good mystery.

Thanks Alondra :)

i also waited so long between the first book of Miss Peregrine and the rest of the series, that's why i'm determined to finish it soon. I'm glad you're enjoying it too.

i think i'll start the year with the Lunar Chronicles, can't wait much longer ;)

Faouzia | 308 comments So finished the first books of this challenge
Fairest 3,5 Stars
Winter 4,5 Stars

This was a most enjoyable series, I loved reading the books and was almost sorry that it ended. I think all parts of it were almost equally good, maybe Fairest a bit less (Levana was definitely a disturbing character) and winter a perfect ending of the series.

Faouzia | 308 comments a quick update of the books i managed to read until now:

The Running Grave (Cormoran Strike, #7) by Robert Galbraith 3 Stars
I enjoyed all the books of the series, and this one could have been the best. The story was as always interesting and addictive and the relationship of Cormoran and Robin even more complicated, and this book could have earned easily 4,5 or even 5 Stars if it weren't for the very graphic scenes. The investigations centred this time around a cult, and there were so many graphic scenes of tortures and so on. It should have come with a warning trigger, they were simply so many, i couldn't get past them.

The Likeness by Tana French 4 Stars
Faithful Place by Tana French 4 Stars
I read the first book of the Dublin Squad a while ago and honestly i almost forgot the details of the story, i only remember that i enjoyed it a lot. The Likeness and Faithful place were both very enjoyable, and i liked that each books centred around one detective in particular of the squad, so one can get an inside look about each one of them.
The likeness actually surprised me agreeably. It was a bulky book, and technically there was very little action but it was fascinating and very addictive! i'll definitely keep reading the series.

The Conference of the Birds (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #5) by Ransom Riggs 4 Stars
this is the book before last of the series, and naturally the story of Jacob Portmann gets ever more complicated and the paculiar world, this time, the american peculiar world is in turmoil. I can#t say more without revealing how things ended in the preceding books, so i'll just say i've been saving the last book of the series for the right time and mood, as i want to really enjoy.

A lot of us have been reading other books; me included. Either they get read or they don't

The thing I like about Dublin Murder squad, is that you can leave the series and not be lost. I think because we do focus on just one detective, that keeps things current and maybe allows us to read out of order.

For Miss Peregrines, I will be going to book 3, I think.
