My name is Jordan and I’m new to the group. I love historical fiction and my passion for it was brought on by my studies in college. It happens to be a genre you read a lot as a lit studies student at the school I attended and lucky for me I loved every book.
Looking forward to new recommendations, new penpals and fresh perspectives for 2025. Thanks!

Michael

Historical fiction is my favorite genre to read and I’m excited to be apart of the group!

My latest favourite in this genre is The Briar Code by Kate Quinn.

Nineteen books in the series and I'm on number 17. I'm worried about what I'm going to read next!

Pat I love the Owen Archer series so this series is going on my TBR. I just checked Amazon and you have a reprieve. They list 20 books in the series. Not sure if that is accurate, but fingers crossed.

Rosh I am so happy to hear you enjoyed The Briar Club by Kate Quinn. I have been on a wait list and am finally getting it from the library this weekend!

Thanks, Beth! I had been on hold at my library for 8 months, but it was totally worth the long wait. I hope you enjoy it too. :)
I too am an omnivore when it comes to genres!

Thanks for the tip, Beth. I'll check out the Owen Archer series. It might be just the thing I need!

Jordan, if you are interested in historical fiction, you may want to try my novel. It is set in Petersburg, Virginia (1796-1826). It is a true story about my 3rd great-grandfather who was murdered in the town. The back cover sums it up! Just published on Amazon.

While I don't have a niche genre, historical fiction is indeed among my favourites.
Welcome to the group! Hope you find and offer many wonderful recs here. :)

What are some of your favorite HF?

I'd love to think that history can teach us things, but if nothing else, historical fiction is, in these times, a great escape.

Hello everyone! I'm so happy to have found this group. I'm an author of historical fiction and fiction. My themes are mainly based on women-centered spirituality and Goddess worship and witches. As a witch and priestess of the Divine Feminine, I was interested in writing about the witch burning times and bring to light about how "the witches wound" affects women's voices and how we have been silenced collectively around religion. I also love reading biographies & history as well. Looking forward to the author discussion group. My two novels were published by Ananke Press-an indie woman-black owned

Sorry everyone. I'm still learning how to navigate this platform. So the cover got mixed up in the text. LOL

I'm an inveterate comfort reader and rarely start a new book, although I read quite a bit of non-fiction and biography. The Goodreads challenges always make me laugh, because all my life I've been trying to read less, not more! Apart from reading I enjoy music, knitting, cooking, and gardening – or rather, just being outside and listening to the birds sing and watching the plants grow . . . and I am deeply grateful for the great privilege of being able to indulge these tastes.

I am look forward to following through with my commitment to historical fiction and chatting with my fellow readers and writers.

Thanks!

Welcome, Lexie! The March read is

Thank you, Peggy!

My most recent book that I've written is Cursed Mountain: The Preacher’s Son, The Devil’s Land

I picked up reading as a hobby in 2022 and fell madly in love with historical fiction. An amazing Lisa See novel called Shanghai Girls hooked me and now I have a hyper-fixation on Chinese Historical Fiction, but love anything in the genre. I also love speculative fiction, literary fiction and biographies.

I am P.D. Garrett. I’ve always been fascinated by the past—the forgotten stories, the resilience of those who came before us, and the way history shapes who we are. That’s why I write (and devour!) historical fiction. I can’t wait to chat with you all about favorite books, hidden gems, and the incredible worlds we step into through storytelling.
Looking forward to great discussions!

Excited to engage with you all and I'm always open to making new friendly connections that share common interests!

'Gangsters and Demons' is a historical fiction with a dark twist. A noir thriller that blends gangster drama with supernatural horror.

I'm also new to goodreads so feel free to add me as a friend if you like.
I turn excerpt of my book into short videos that I post on my social media accounts. You can see them here:

I'm Kirsty and have just got back into reading again after a break for 28 years raising my 5 children. I'm quite a slow reader so it takes me a while to get through a book - but over the past couple of years I have read my way through all the Ken Follett Kingsbridge series and thoroughly enjoyed them. I am now about half way through Game of Thrones and am hooked - to the point of ordering the rest of the books. I prefer reading an actual book but I do have a kindle and quite often switch to that to read something a bit lighter every now and then... having several different books on the go at once doesn't bother me too much but at the moment I don't want to read anything other than GOT!
I lost my husband 3 years ago and now my children are all grown, the youngest being 17, I am finding I have more time, or maybe the mental space, to read again.

I'm Sabrina, a historical fiction author and voracious reader looking forward to connecting with people to discuss historical fiction of all eras.

Today, I’m the author of a historical fiction series that follows the coming-of-age journey of a young prince on a fictional island during the Ancient Roman era. The series blends rich historical detail with emotional depth, exploring themes of identity, friendship, and resilience.
Though I’ve been more of a quiet observer in this group, I’m eager to connect with fellow readers and writers who appreciate heartfelt, character-driven stories, especially those set against the backdrop of history aimed at young adults.

Two Watches is a historical fiction mystery about family, hidden pasts, and the secrets we leave behind. If you love emotional, layered stories set across Ireland and Lithuania, this is for you.

Hello everyone, nice to virtually meet you. My name is Frank Demith and I am a writer of Historical Fiction. The current set of books I am working on is called the Carson Series and it is based upon a program I helped to create while serving in the Pentagon. I am working on Book 3 now.
I am a strong supporter of fellow veterans and those who are currently serving our country in the Armed Forces. My goal with my writing is to give readers a glimpse at what members of the Armed Forces go through when they deploy to a foreign land in a time of war. One of my favorite quotes from my first book "Of Vital Interest" is "hope is not a method'.

I’m Jacklyn A. Lo, thrilled to join this wonderful group of history lovers. I have a deep passion for history and how it shapes us — especially when combined with metaphysical and spiritual themes. My two recent novels reflect this blend:
Redemption — a time-travel novel that journeys through ancient periods on Earth, exploring karma, free will, and past lives.
Hamlet’s Last Choice — a spiritual reimagining of Shakespeare’s tragedy, set in historical times, where destiny and personal choice collide.
I look forward to connecting with fellow readers and authors, sharing book recommendations, and discussing how history and spirituality can intertwine in storytelling.
Thank you for having me!
Jacklyn A. Lo
