I'll be interested in what you think of it, Katrisa. I have it on my wish list, but I need to read the other two first.

The whole series is a solid 4 stars for me. This book covers the aftermath of the Trojan War - similar to Elektra though I like this one better because I think Elektra (the character) was a bit too annoying. I really like Cassandra and Clytemnestra in this one.

I have been meaning to read one of her for a while now. She seem to be liked by many.

I am going from piracy (L'écume des lames) to WWII in Finland (Les Guerriers de l'hiver) reading about Simo Häyhä, the "White Death".
I also started Shigidi and the Brass Head of Obalufon which got me googling and reading about Yoruba mythology. I am totally out of my zone there.

I've decided that first come, first served. I'm not going to hold a task for an intended book. While I had two possibilities for the religion task, I discovered this month's themed read will fit. Since I don't have it slated elsewhere in the challenge, I've put it in for the religion task.

I've decided the author of The Fox Wife isn't for me. I've read another of her books and felt the same way. If I had realized she was the same author, I wouldn't have picked up The Fox Wife.
Bitter Passage was so slow paced and repeatedly focused on the bleak landscape and it's unrelenting hardships - snow, ice, freezing temps, hunger. Etc.
I've started two books: Somewhere Beyond the Sea (Book 2 of the The House in the Cerulean Sea) and A Play of Isaac.

My hold for Dark Witch finally came available so I thought I'd better give it priority. It's only been on hold since April 2024. I've managed to fit it into the theme of villainy.

I'm ready for a change of pace and am starting an early copy of A Killing Cold. I've read two other books by Kate Alice Marshall and really enjoyed them, so I'm looking forward to this one. I've only read the prologue and the first chapter so far and they pull you in quickly.

You've started the year off with some real doozies, Janice. I hope Somewhere Beyond the Sea and Dark Witch are better for you.
My hold for Somewhere Beyond the Sea came in today and I sent it back for a later date. I haven't been making a lot of reading progress and already had to get back on the waitlist once for that one after taking it out and not having time to read it. I hope to get to it soon though. I'll be interested to see what you think of it.

- The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder is a buddy read, on audiobook.
- Three Wild Dogs (and the Truth): A Memoir is a new release.
Both books will fit my list challenge.

I started The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell. Hoping I can read it quickly for the monthly challenge. Three days for one book is doable as long as it's engaging and life doesn't get too crazy. So far, it's interesting so fingers crossed I'm done on time.

I noticed I have a few books on my review-to-follow shelf. I seem to throw them over there if I finish when I'm too busy to do a review, then forget about them. I'm going to have to clear out that shelf as best as I can soon.
I hope to finish The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell today.

I'm starting Broken Bayou tonight.
