Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments I‘m so excited for this read! Hope it’s going to be more action and plot straight from the beginning.
Prologue - Chapter 4.

(view spoiler)

Brianna C | 1248 comments I am already behind. lol I will not be starting this today - I got Covid. :(
I have been trying to read but brain is struggling. lol I will obviously have more time for reading so should be able to catch up within the next few days once being sick mellows out a bit.

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments Oh noooo!! Get well soon, so sorry to hear about it. Hope you will recover soon. No worries, I always fall behind, probably already tomorrow, as work starts again. Take care.

Thank you! I am finally feeling a bit better and feel like I can pick up a new book again so I am going to see how much I catch up on this tonight.

Brianna C | 1248 comments through the end of chapter 4:

Okay so not gonna lie this was kinda hard to get into. This could be because:
a. still sick
b. it's been a bit since reading the first so I don't entirely recall all the details
c. it was just not the vibe or what I expected.

I agree that it felt a bit wrong - she was chosen because she was brave and willing to fight and "not like other girls" and here Tamlin is - treating her like the most cliche girl ever.
I won't like - I don't get great vibes from the priestess either.
It'll be super interesting to see what happens with Rhysand now!

Brianna C | 1248 comments through the end of chapter 7:
Okay so far Rhysand is much better than Tamlin. He seems to actually be helping her? He could also be taking advantage and turning her against Tamlin, but I think he's actually trying to give her useful skills.
I like that things between the two courts do feel different. Sometimes it's hard to picture two different settings in one book but I definitely get completely opposite vibes between the Spring Court and the Night Court.
I know the first one in the series was pretty heavy on the Beauty and the Beast vibes but truly the Spring Court continues to give that impression. I just keep picturing the castle and such from the movie when we're in the Spring Court.
The wardrobe descriptions of the Night Court gave slight Aladdin vibes so now I'm kind of picturing Jasmin's palace (but more windows) as Rhysand's home.

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments @Brianna I hope you recovered fully? I‘m so sorry I‘m terribly behind… My planning here was maybe too much with 2 books at a time. I will try to catch up this week, so it can be fun for you as well and we can discuss together.

I'm finally feeling better - thank you! Still have been having a hard time getting back into reading so I am also very behind. lol

Brianna C | 1248 comments through the end of chapter 36:
Have been working on getting caught up so now only about a week behind. lol
The story is going very differently than I expected. I like that we are now seeing the other courts. I am worried with how long it's been since we've heard anything about the Spring Court. I also can't wait to see what it is about the priestess that so many do not like - it seems like others are suspicious of them as well.

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments @Brianna Wow, you definitely caught up. I‘m trying too… I‘m definitely more than a werk behind, so sorry!

Chapter 5 - 13
Rhys is hilarious, I absolutely love him. Although I believe he might have an ulterior motive with Feyre and he definitely isn’t telling her everything, he seems genuine and treats her like an equal. He seems to acknowledge her trauma and definitely wants her to grow and get into her powers. On the other hand Tamlin… Ughhhh… I start to kind of dislike him. He treats Feyre like she’s a little princess that is supposed to stay in her palace. He doesn’t want her to train her abilities, doesn’t want her to grow, seems like he just wants her to be his pretty wife, doing whatever he says. He doesn’t even let her in on all the planning and scheming he’s doing with Lucien. And doesn’t want her to know what is going in outside their mansion. I don’t know how strong and stubborn Feyre who went to beat Amarantha really stays with a guy like that. Doesn’t make no sense to me.
Luckily Feyre finally spoke up to Tamlin in chapter 8. You go girl! But overall this relationship still seems toxic. They never discuss anything. They didn’t discuss about Feyre hesitating at the wedding or any further wedding plans. They didn’t discuss Feyre‘s shield and her obviously being scared of him. They just sweep everything under the rug. And Tamlin locking Feyre up just was the cherry on topof everything.

I completely agree that Tamlin and Feyre DEFINITELY have a communication issue. There were so many big things and feelings to discuss and just nothing. Not only did they not discuss her hesitating at the wedding but that she went so willingly with Rhysand. They (Tamlin and the priestess) barely seem to tell her why some of the things they have her do/wear/etc. matter as well. Like she is hella new to this world so help her learn all the politics and history and nuances, ya know?

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments @Brianna I like your comparison of Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Now that you’re mentioning it, totally fits. Yup, Tamlin and Feyre definitely have communication issues.

Chapter 14 - 20
Honestly I‘m a bit disappointed in Rhys. Seems like in the end he didn’t really care for Feyre but was having ulterior motives indeed. Pushing her to learn to read to find the book. Sending her to two different very traumatizing encounters after knowing what she’s been through. Yes of course he let’s her decide for herself and yes he probably just wants to push her as she has to overcome all her trauma if she wants to be part of the war, but it really makes him look like some selfish kind of dude.

Definitely enjoyed to get to know Rhys Inner circle and I think Cassian will grow on me. Loved Mor anyways already. Not sure about Azriel. And definitely don’t like Amren, or at least don’t trust her at all. It was really nice to find out how Rhys, Cassian and Azriel became friends and what they went through together which made their bond so deep.

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments Chapter 21 -´25
It definitely brought an extra twist to the story to bring in Feyre‘s sisters. I wonder if one of them falls for a Fae. Maybe Nesta, the one who truly hates Faes. Just the way her and Cassian quarrel constantly. And definitely praise to Cassian for telling Nesta off. He was absolutely right. Nesta didn’t do anything to support or help her sister back in the days when they were starving. I also believe that fiance of Elaine or probably his father will become a problem later on.

And Rhys, oh well Rhys…. I mean he’s cruel, but I still love him. I know he just wants to challenge Feyre so she can channel her powers and that’s why he’s constantly putting her in dangerous situations, but can he give a girl a break. Using her as bait…. And then on top of it for the Attor, come on….
But I start sensing some sort of enemy to lovers trope here. These two are constantly fighting and bickering, I‘m just waiting for the moment something romantic will happen. It’s like Darius and Tory from the Zodiac Academy…

I am glad that they kept the sisters in the story as opposed to removing them when Feyre became Fae. They very easily could have been left behind in a way so it's nice that they are still makin appearances because they mean so much to Feyre.

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments @Brianna Definitely, it’s nice to have the sisters be part of the story as well.

Chapter 26 - 31.
Excited to get to know Summer court. And it was also really nice to get some more scenes in Velaris. Just to get a bigger and better picture of the city. Love how we get to know the different courts in this book.

Just wonder if it was smart to not kill the Attor. If he will tell the king where he found Feyre, the king will find out where her sisters live…
Also that letter to Tamlin… OMG… So now it’s the final cut with him. I definitely hope so! Although I believe some of the things Feyre was thinking about him, like him getting his magic back and breaking the curse and all of that by kind of using her was doing him injustice. I truly believe he loved her, and was maybe not bold enough to act any other way Under The Mountain and then he was just so traumatized by everything happened down there, that he got overprotective. Just my piece of thought.

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments Chapter 32 - 36
Ughhhh, the slow burn between Feyre and Rhys is killing me. Can these two just finally admit they like each other. Tarquin seems like a really nice guy as well. I wish Feyre could just be honest and ask him about the book, rather than betray him. And on top of that she got into his head messing with him. I feel bad for Tarquin.

Seemed way too easy getting that book, there had to be a trap.

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments Chapter 37 - 41
I feel sad for how things ended with Tarquin in the end. I hope Rhys is going to be able to repair that friendship later on.

The meeting with the queens didn’t go as planned and they were kind of condescending. Very disappointing, I was hoping they would help. And for Rhys having to reveal Velaris. I was kind of surprised how quickly he was agreeing to that, considering the fact he kept it secret for such a long time. There must be a scheme he’s planning. He definitely can’t reveal the city.

Brianna C | 1248 comments @Sarah-Vanessa: The slow burn is REALLLLLL! lol

I also feel so bad for Tarquin - he seems like a genuinely good guy. Hopefully he understands the big picture once everything is revealed (if it ever is?).

I agree the Mortal Queens are a bit of a disappointment. You would think they would be all over any way possible to save the mortal realm but they don't seem to care much - especially for the portion on the other side of the wall.

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments @Brianna Yessssss it‘s killing me,ha ha.

Chapter 42 - 44
And then there’s me hoping something would finally happening between Feyre and Rhys at the Night Court or during Starfall. And still nothing…….

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments Chapter 45 - 49
FINALLY! Took them long enough…All I got to say… And then they got attacked.

Brianna C | 1248 comments Sarah-Vanessa wrote: "Chapter 45 - 49

They just can't have nice things! (insert crying emoji here lol)

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments Chapter 50 - 54
Anyone else agrees that Feyre is a bit of a drama queen? Yeah I get it, Rhys should have told her she’s his mate. But I get all the reasons why he didn’t yet. So I feel her reaction is a bit over the top. The poor guy. At least she figured it out herself in the end

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments 55 - 69
OMG! That book ended with a bang! I‘m speechless. But this one definitely is a 5 star read.

@Brianna I‘m looking forward to see what you think. Not sure if you finished it yet, as I was so behind.

It definitely did! The ending certainly made up for some other things that I felt were lacking. I genuinely think it didn't need to be quite as long.
I can't believe what Tamlin did - I most definitely did not see that coming at all. I'm excited to get to the next one later this month. I want to know what happens next.

Sarah-Vanessa | 492 comments @Brianna Yes it was sort of a long read and I agree some things could have been left. Personally the length didn’t bother me, I quite enjoyed reading all of it. What did you feel was lacking? Just curious to know.

Tamlin is an absolute mess…. I stayed mouth open after reading what he did.
I feel like I immediately want to start reading the third book, haha
