Ruhani (ruhaniw) | 30 comments My reads so far:

1. A book set in a different country than you live in.
The Apothecary Rose (Owen Archer, #1) by Candace Robb The Apothecary Rose by Candace Robb
Completed: Jan 14
Almost every book I read is set in a different country than I live in. This is set not only in a different country but also in a different time period (in 1363 York).

2. Read a book by an author that you never read before or one by a new debut author.
Broken Angels (Dr Harrison Lane Mystery #1) by Gwyn Bennett Broken Angels by Gwyn Bennett
Completed: Feb 7
I've tried 5 new authors this year. Just picking this police procedural featuring Dr Harrison Lane, Head of the Ritualistic Crimes Unit. The crimes are different from the usual because of Harrison Lane's specialty.

3. A book that someone recommended to you.
The Lake House Children by Gregg Dunnett The Lake House Children by Gregg Dunnett
Completed: Feb 11
A book recommended by many Goodreads members. In fact I just wanted to check it out on Kindle but it just pulled me in and I finished it within a day!

8. A book you meant to read in 2024 but never got around to it.
The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor
Completed: Jan 4
This was in my Kindle library since early 2024. Loved it.

10. A book that is done by more than one author (it can be a book of short stories by different authors, or one book that is one story with more than 1 author like Patterson or Evanovich I'm sure there is others.
A Bitter Truth (Bess Crawford, #3) by Charles Todd A Bitter Truth by Charles Todd
Completed: Feb 1
Charles Todd is a mother-son combo that not only writes the Bess Crawford series but also the Ian Rutledge series.

Ruhani (ruhaniw) | 30 comments Adding also 2 police procedurals to #1 and #2

#1. Letter from the Dead (Detective Inspector Declan Walsh #1) by Jack Gatland Letter from the Dead by Jack Gatland
Completed: Jan 28
This was ok though I generally like crimes that are more domestic

#2. Secrets In Blood (Wild Fens #1) by Jack Cartwright Secrets In Blood by Jack Cartwright
Completed: Feb 9
Good mystery, good writing but I didn't like the protagonist DI Freya Bloom
