Hello Everyone and Welcome to UNO2025!

It looks like we have a team of UNO veterans based on the shelves I saw. Welcome back :)

I've played almost from the get go I think and have lost count as to how many years it's been. I am typically a captain, though sometimes life has occasionally pushed me into a regular player role. The break is nice sometimes :)

I love team challenges on GR and this was my gateway challenge, as it seems to be for many people. I'm also a mod over in the NBRC group.

By day I'm the lead economist at the USEPA in the Toxic Chemicals office. And a mother of one who is soon turning 7 and in 1st grade, often referred to as Tiny Tyrant as he rules the house with his sticky fist. Or at least in his head anyway.

I have things pretty much set up, the tracking sheet should be up by some time tomorrow. There were a couple people I wasn't sure about their UNO shelf. If you don't see your shelf linked in message 4, please post it in the thread. And if I have a link for you, please check to make sure I grabbed the proper shelf.

Lexi and I generally don't have people 'claim' cards aside from color cards as we've found it easier to move things around that way. I will have all the color cards listed in the tracking spreadsheet. You can claim them there or here in the thread.

If anyone doesn't like spreadsheets, or is traveling/just on the app always feel free to post the pertinent information in the thread and Lexi or I will move it to the spreadsheet for you.

And please give a shout if you have any questions. Looking forward to another fun year of UNO!

Hi all, My name is Lexi (she/her/hers) and I am the co-captain. I live in Atlanta, Georgia (EST), and work in public health and parasites. I especially enjoy reading fantasy and sci-fi, and am trying to read authors from a wider range of countries. I have played and captained/co-captained UNO before.

It is great to see that everyone has played before but please ask any questions you might have anyway.

Hi all, my name is Nicole. I live in the UK near Durham and run a bookshop + work part time at a warehouse 2 days of the week. I likely won't be around much on Sundays/Mondays for this reason but the rest of the week I should be available :)

I read a lot of fantasy and romance books - occasionally together but not as often. I read a wide range and read at least 3 books a month for book club.

My most common reads are mysteries, historical fiction ( and no, the 60’s and later don’t count!) and literary fiction. My goal is at least 12 non-fiction this year.

Hi all, my name is Louise and I live in South Wales. I read most genres and have played Uno since it’s second or third year and normally Captain or co-captain. RL events have taken its toll over the last 6 months so although I love team challenges I am stepping back and playing as a regular player.

I arrived back from my holiday to Iceland on Thursday night which was very relaxing and a welcome distraction. Although I am excited for this to start I’m not sure how active I will be in the first couple of weeks. My mum has been in hospital since end of December and is in the final stages of vascular dementia. It has been difficult as both myself and my brother live quite far away from my mum.

Sorry to her about your mother there's nothing I know I can say to make it easier. Pop in when you can/feel like it but otherwise no worries and take care of her, yourself, and your family.

Hopefully we can be a bit of a distraction from RL problems from time to time.

I would not call it green but I tend to label a lot more as blue so we can wait on Judith for a second opinion.

The February Mini challenge is out!

One thing to keep in mind, we are not to complete all of the character task sets. We are to pick 6 to do as a team.

1 needs to be a hero and 1 needs to be a villain, the other 4 can be any combination thereof.

Books finished after 9am UTC on Feb 14th count for the mini

I did add a tab to the tracking sheet for the mini but I would recommend holding off on claiming tasks until the team settles on the 6 sets we are going to be doing.

Princess Leia and Darth Vadar seem like good choices based on what the tasks are and what the team has been reading.

Do people have thoughts on the other 4 sets? Or do you all just want Lexi and I to pick?

Off the top of my head I have books I'm planning to read this month that work for Luke Skywalker, Emperor Palpatine, & Jabba the Hutt.

But none of the characters look too bad to find books for so I'm happy to go with whatever everyone else has books for.

I would vote against Jabba as I think some of those are very specific.

I would vote for Sarlacc, Luke, and Emperor Palpatine for starters.

Maybe Grand Moff Tarkin for the last one? Still thinking on this one.

I have books that work for many of the tasks so am happy to go with whatever the team decides.

Hi all, I set up the six characters on the planning sheet, and it is open for everyone to claim tasks. I also added a column to put other options the book might work for if we need to move books around.

Books can be started since the start of UNO but cannot be finished until just under 20 hours from now.

Also, I added a countdown to the start/end of the mini at the top of the mini tab. I know with everyone in different time zones those countdowns can be helpful :)

I have added two books to the mini against tasks I know they definitely work for and will add any task options as I figure them out.
In the meanwhile, if anybody has a book that only works for one of them, please leave me a note and go ahead and replace them.

Hi all, sorry for being quiet, unfortunately my mum passed away last Sunday morning (2nd) and have been helping my brother with organising everything with regards to arrangements for the funeral and dealing with my mum’s personal effects.

I have been reading and will try and stop in more often
