I feel like there might be a shift in focus: a larger focus on the drama/romantic aspect of the group of teens rather than the book's themes of friendship, bravery and sacrifice. But I haven't seen the trailer, so this is all my first reaction at hearing the news. I just don't want the story to be portrayed as anything less than as it was in the book.
I don't want the story to be changed to be more entertaining/appealing to teen audiences by being more teen-love-life-focused, as lots of shows are. I hope the creators stay true to the book, is all I'm saying. 😊

I must get over this hurdle I created, because I do love me some Stephen king novels 🥰📖.

From what I saw in the trailer, the only difference between the show and the book that I could make out is that the kids seem to be a little older than in the book with the main character probably being around 15 instead of 12. Otherwise, it looks promising. Of course it's just a trailer, so there might be other, more significant differences :P

Oh okay, thank you for that. Well, if it looks promising then I might check it out myself - but what you said about their ages only increases my concerns. Although, I can understand that twelve year old actors may not be as fitting for the portrayal of the characters in this story or maybe not act as well as slightly more experienced/slightly older actors...
I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what it's like!
Thank you for taking the time to reply, it's interesting to hear others' thoughts. :)

I don't think I would be willing to get another streaming service just for this, I'd wait to see if it hopefully landed on something else after a licensing deal.
T-Mobile Tuesday did a free 3 month subscription to MGM+ so I got to watch the show this week. I actually thought it was decent. I wish MGM+ would release their shows on Bluray so my library could order them. The show did get picked up for a season 2 so I'll be interested to see how the showrunners will continue the story.
