Jacob | 4 comments I really loved the novel, so I’m especially happy about this upcoming series in ‘25 or ‘26

Brett Davis | 1 comments I just finished it so I’m excited to see what they will do with the TV show.

Hans | 66 comments Just saw the trailer and so far it looks pretty good, although it's kinda weird to see Ben Barnes playing a good guy after his roles in The Punisher and Shadow & Bone.

Bookworm Isagi (bookworm_isagi) | 8 comments I don't know anything about the show, but I loved the book (and still do!) very much. I'm a bit apprehensive as to what the adaptation will be like...

I feel like there might be a shift in focus: a larger focus on the drama/romantic aspect of the group of teens rather than the book's themes of friendship, bravery and sacrifice. But I haven't seen the trailer, so this is all my first reaction at hearing the news. I just don't want the story to be portrayed as anything less than as it was in the book.

I don't want the story to be changed to be more entertaining/appealing to teen audiences by being more teen-love-life-focused, as lots of shows are. I hope the creators stay true to the book, is all I'm saying. 😊

Jacqueline (thereaderx1f4da) | 28 comments I have owned this novel for a few years now but I haven’t read it yet! I don’t like the edition I have. I have the small paperback and for some reason because of that stupid nuisance I won’t pick up the book and read it ( I ridiculous right 🙃🤪).

I must get over this hurdle I created, because I do love me some Stephen king novels 🥰📖.

Panda | 47 comments Rant: I don't even know what this channel is. I am kind of tired of new channels making series beloved authors and books to bring people in. This is how I ended up my with Hulu subscription back when they did 11/22/63. I cannot possibly have all of the channels, but Kings stuff is spread out all over the place.

From what I saw in the trailer, the only difference between the show and the book that I could make out is that the kids seem to be a little older than in the book with the main character probably being around 15 instead of 12. Otherwise, it looks promising. Of course it's just a trailer, so there might be other, more significant differences :P

Oh okay, thank you for that. Well, if it looks promising then I might check it out myself - but what you said about their ages only increases my concerns. Although, I can understand that twelve year old actors may not be as fitting for the portrayal of the characters in this story or maybe not act as well as slightly more experienced/slightly older actors...

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what it's like!
Thank you for taking the time to reply, it's interesting to hear others' thoughts. :)

I don't think I would be willing to get another streaming service just for this, I'd wait to see if it hopefully landed on something else after a licensing deal.

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments I will wait until all the episodes have aired and then just pay the one month to watch it.

I think you can get a one week free trial of MGM+

That's what I am going to try.

T-Mobile Tuesday did a free 3 month subscription to MGM+ so I got to watch the show this week. I actually thought it was decent. I wish MGM+ would release their shows on Bluray so my library could order them. The show did get picked up for a season 2 so I'll be interested to see how the showrunners will continue the story.

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 612 comments I watched the first episode, because it was free on Prime, and I liked it pretty well, but I'll probably hold off on watching the rest for now. Too many subscriptions going on, lol! But I liked what I saw so far, and will for sure finish watching at some point.
