1) Book you would recommend to a character not mentioned here - or one you would envision would be on that character’s shelf

First book I have chosen for this challenge and I think it is something that the lady in the sketch How to Fix a Broken Relationship might have it in her shelf.
It is about a breakup between Claudia and Flavio, in their 50s. It starts with Claudia being still obsessed by their past relationship and Flavio listing all the things that were not going well in their relationship. Both will find new relationships with women 25 years younger than them. It is narrated by all four the characters and it became a film some years ago

Donatella Zuccaro | 53 comments 2. Come neve che cade by Kristin Hannah - Book you would recommend to Gerald (or a book you envision would be on his bookshelf)
It's the story of two sisters and the relationship with their Russian mother, who has hidden her past and emotions for a long time to her daughters.
I think Gerald would be attracted by this book and maybe would buy it because of the story about this relationship between the three women and the fact that it is also partially an historical book would be interesting for him. He usually is portrayed like a character that is not afraid of showing a sensitive side

That sounds like a good book for Gerald. Thank you for the details.

Donatella Zuccaro | 53 comments oh Hey, I don't know why but it seems Goodreads is showing me only a few notifications - thank you. I am not reading much compared to the first months of last year but I am trying to find connections to the challenge

Donatella Zuccaro | 53 comments 3. Il velo dipinto Book written by a Chinese author (or set in China) - well, I have a readers' crisis and this is only the third book read this year, but it was interesting (despite me taking so much to finish it), There's a true development of the main character, Kitty, who from being a frivolous girl turned into a more deeper person. Characters I truly disliked: Kitty's mother, too selfish, and Charlie Townsend, too selfish and vain. Characters I liked: the mother superior and Waddington - I liked his irony. Kitty's husband, Walter, seemed to be a good character but in the end I was not that sure: he loved her but he he knew that she didn't love him, yet he wanted to marry her even if he knew they could both be miserable. In the end, with all her faults and changes, Kitty is the most human of them all.

Don't be hard on yourself for not reading more. Enjoy what you do read.

Donatella Zuccaro | 53 comments 4. La libreria alla fine del mondo this is for Book written by a New Zealand author - and what a life this author has had. Definitely adventurous and terribly sad - full of trauma and misery but every time she got up again. The only thing I didn't like: the numerous pages about ships, boat, life on the sea. Too much for me.

Donatella Zuccaro | 53 comments 5. Quaderno proibito Book you would recommend to Anne Flanagan (or a book you envision would be on her bookshelf). This is a book about a woman, Valeria, who started writing on a notebook, her thoughts and what happens in her life. She's a mother, and though she works too she is relegated to this role only (her husband doesn't even call her by her name anymore, just "Mamma"). She starts to realise there's more through her conflicted relationship with her daughter, more free than she would even be. I think Anne would appreciate this

That sounds touching like a touching read for Anne.

The only thing I didn't like: the numerous pages about ships, boat, life on the sea. Too much for me.

I've had that experience with books where there is too much of one element and a little less would be better.

Donatella Zuccaro | 53 comments 6) Inventario di quel che resta dopo che la foresta brucia Book that features cars or driving (or involves an important scene with a car) - unfortunately, in this book, the scene with a car involves a car accident where two brothers die. The story is told by their parents - all the things left in the house are used to tell about their lives.

Donatella Zuccaro | 53 comments 7) Weyward Book that features three generations- this book is set in England, in different times. It's the story of three women belonging to a very particular family. What I really liked it's the connection between this family, with things that link these three women together (we bring things of our ancestors with us, even if we don't realise it), and the fact that they help the future generations.
