Is there anything better than… a random read that turns into a favorite series?

That’s a good one! Not much better than that, unless it’s a book by a prolific author who has a long backlist 😍

Heck yeah! Always awesome when you find a new (to you) author that has a ton of books already.

Yep, same! And I recently started buying my favourite series in paperback. I need them on my shelves!

I tried to loan my best friend all my Vorkosigan books. (There weren't nearly as many back then.) I told her, "No, take them all," but she's kind of a slow reader, so she wouldn't. Two weeks later, she was at my door to collect the rest. She must have read full time (when not at work) to finish the first ones she borrowed that fast. I said, "I told you so."

That's wonderful. I tried a number of Vorkosigan saga (6) books both the original and Miles but they just did not grab me. They were good but I guess not my thing.

I don't have anyone in real life who loves our kind of books, so SOS is my Great Book Love!! Thank you all for the validation 💕

Talking to an e-friend IRL. Met a guy and his wife from one of my other GR groups, Hugo and Nebula awards-best novels, https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/... where we are both moderators.

My husband and I had a nice BBQ lunch with them and then went to a winery. Talked about books and found we had way more in common than just books. New good friends, though given our distance from each other, we will probably not see them anywhere but online for at least a couple of years.

Aww, I love that! I have met some GRers irl too, and it’s so fun! Well, as long as they’re either extroverts, and so can carry the conversation, or are thoroughly prepared for my 100% awkwardness. 🤣

Agree! I was lucky to meet one of our SOS members IRL. We met up with her in New Orleans for an author convention, then again in Cali for a Ilona & Gordon book signing 😁
