While the focus was on Jameson’s partner as the murderer, it turned out to be a chance encounter Cleo had with the actual killer in a minor traffic accident. The level of violence was excessive given the assaulters’ histories, especially as they also intended for those children to die in that fire. Victor Klein’s probation officer however felt he had the potential to commit this kind of crime. What did he see in him? What do you make of all this? Were you surprised at their actions once you learned more about their backgrounds?

The probation officer saw a sociopath with no empathy for anyone else. A soulless piece of s--t that would eventually murder if it struck his fancy. I wasn't surprised, given his history.
