Dani | 15 comments i really enjoyed wuthering heights! i'd say, go at your own pace. don't be afraid to go back to passages that you don't fully understand. maybe even find forums online where they discuss chapters in-depth so you can get a fuller understanding of what's going on? i used to do that in high school

gaia☆ | 245 comments i loved wuthering heights! i like reading classics so much, and to enjoy them i usually read very slowly. if you can’t get past the first few chapters don’t be demotivated, they usually get better. also don’t feel forced to finish it if you don’t like it, it may put you in a reading slump. if you like wuthering height i suggest reading jane eyre, it’s my favorite book by the brontë sisters

Mbhabibti | 158 comments I've been reading classics my whole life, and the biggest thing I would say is take your time with them.

With reading goals and Goodreads and everything we feel pressure to finish books fairly quickly, but I recommend setting that aside when you're getting into the classics. The language and prose is typically very different to how we speak today, and the pacing is much slower than most modern books. So don't feel like you need to rush through it.

Whenever a book is dragging a bit, I try to read at least one chapter a day. Some parts might pick up and be more interesting and you'll feel like reading more. But if you mentally know "okay, let me just read one chapter today" then you'll work through it slowly but surely. If you're worried about a reading slump, pick up a modern book at the same time and you can go back and forth between the two.

Hope you enjoy!

I think I would advise you to take your time when reading the classics too. It's not homework you have to do, and it's not a plane you can't miss. If you take your time, you'll actually enjoy reading books like Wuthering Heights or Jan Eyre.

Kosar | 170 comments if you like politics ( I don't but I liked this book) read 1894 and animal's farm
if you like dark classics read the picture of Dorian gray (I really liked this one)

vivi ₊˚ෆ (sxtoru) | 9 comments with classics just take your time. go at your own pace is my biggest advice for getting into them. my first few classics took a week to several months to finish. it best to put aside the “i need to finish this soon” mindset for this genre, you’ll find more enjoyment and fulfillment in slowing down for sure. good luck on your journey with classics!
