The story begins with a chilling prologue where someone was obviously setting a nursery on fire. While there was no context for the scene, did you recall it later when it became clearer about the where, what and whom?

Phrynne | 14 comments It was chilling and I definitely recalled it later. I am not a fan of prologues in general but thought this one added to the suspense.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I agree with Phrynne, it was chilling, and I looked throughout the book for who could have done this.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree. I was waiting for the fire to appear and an explanation.

I’d forgotten it after a while but then when the subject of Trinity having a twin came up, it all came rushing back.

Loverofbooks - Jae' ♒️♍️♑️ (loverofbooks-jae) | 23 comments Yes, I actually suspected Lila early on, I was just waiting for the context of a nursery to appear . Then when Lizette told Josie that
“ she’d (Lila) told him that her entire family perished in a house fire’. When we learned what happened to Dex, I definitely knew it was her in the prologue, but still didn’t grasp the actual events until Josie’s trip to the library.

I recall mentioning in book 1 that I thought Josie and Trinity were sisters and that Lila may have sold Trinity to a wealthy family for money… or something else… ANYTHING else. I agree with the other ladies, the prologue was definitely creepy.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Jae', I also thought they were sisters from early on!

Great catch and connecting the dots, Jae’! Missed it all.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I had felt like maybe in the first book, but then put it to the back of my head. It didn't really sink back in until about 2/3 of the way through this one.
