Reyn (firetothereyn) | 15 comments I’m planning on starting it in March, too. I’m doing the order SJM recommends. I’ll also be doing the tandem read, too.

Throne of Glass
Crown of Midnight
Heir of Fire
The Assassin's Blade
Queen of Shadows
Empire of Storms
Tower of Dawn
Kingdom of Ash

Yes 100%! I read it in this order and sooo was glad I did. It was more impactful and super emotional.

Pancake’s Library ☾✶ (camelotreviews) | 7 comments Would you recommend saving The Assassin’s Blade first or wait until you read the rest of the series?

Pancake’s Library ☾✶ (camelotreviews) | 7 comments Would you recommend saving The Assassin’s Blade for last or should I read it first?

Hannah | 1 comments READ IT THIRD TRUST ME!!! <3

message 6: by kileigh♡✧ (new)

kileigh♡✧ (kiileiigh) I would read it first! there’s soo much in assassins blade that comes full circle at the end! more of an emotional impact, for sure!🤍

message 7: by abby vic (new)

abby vic | 1 comments i read assassins blade first and i highly highly recommend doing that instead of reading it last. celaena’s character made so much more sense and i felt like it really set me up to understand the whole series.

kileigh♡✧ (kiileiigh) @abby vic - yessss!!! and the connection between AB and TOD was so heartfelt!!! plus, I feel like going back in time to read AB after you’ve already read ahead is a chore lol

Pancake’s Library ☾✶ (camelotreviews) | 7 comments Thanks for the advice! I look forward to diving into this series this year and was worried reading the prequel first would spoil too much! 🩷

message 10: by kileigh♡✧ (new)

kileigh♡✧ (kiileiigh) I don’t think reading AB first would spoil anything. It amplifies Celaena’s character SO much. Gives you an understanding on why she does the things that she does, and sets you up for connections you’ll make later on in the series!

Either way, it’s a great series, and i’m excited for you to enjoy it🤍

Kora Upitis | 10 comments This is what I recommend to friends but ultimately as long as you read it before Queen of Shadows you're ok.

Throne of Glass
Crown of Midnight
Assassin's Blade
Heir of Fire
*I also strongly recommend the tandem read of Empire of storms and tower of Dawn for first time readers of the series

Nikki Little | 2 comments Tbh, I read Assassin’s Blade first, but I think you could read it third and be fine. For me, it’s about preference. If you want nothing in Assassin’s Blade to be spoiled, then read it first, because the ending is fully spoiled throughout Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire. But if you’re okay with spoilers, then definitely read it third. Doing this will give you the best book 1 experience. I think the whole point of books ones beginning is that you don’t know much about Celaena, and that she’s very mysterious. Assassin’s Blade kind of ruins this whole atmosphere you get when first introduced to Celaena. For me, reading Assassin’s Balde first was best because the ending of that book wouldn’t have been nearly as impactful had I not read it first. But for a reread, I might read it third to get a different experience. Hope that helps, because I’m literally the biggest Throne of Glass Stan ever!! 👻👻

Madison Wellman | 1 comments I read assassins blade first and I couldn’t imagine doing it any other way. To stop in the middle of the plot and go BACK to her history and beginning is just pointless to me. “It’s so much better for emotional impact”. I highly disagree. Being introduced to some of these “smaller characters” and then meeting them again as the series progressed made it so much more impactful for me.

Reef Anderson | 1 comments I also read Assassin’s Blade first and I agree it had a more emotional impact on me that I feel I would not have gotten if I read it after Throne of glass, Crown of midnight, or Heir of fire because of all the spoilers that those books give you about what happens in assassins blade
