Freida McFadden has released her 183472895703th book and I have it on good authority that this one is a ripper!

Tegan is eight months pregnant, alone, and desperately wants to put her crumbling life in the rearview mirror. So she hits the road, planning to stay with her brother until she can figure out her next move. But she doesn’t realize she’s heading straight into a blizzard.

She never arrives at her destination.

Stranded in rural Maine with a dead car and broken ankle, Tegan worries she’s made a terrible mistake. Then a miracle occurs: she is rescued by a couple who offers her a room in their warm cabin until the snow clears.

SPOIIIILERRRRS AHEAD!!

Can someone please vent about this book with me please? I know we are all Freida fans here but honestly I found it so frustrating all the way from Tegan’s lack of trust in Hank to the constant referring to ‘The Incident’.

Sorry but why on God’s green earth did Tegan not tell the police about the absolute cretin that is Polly for locking her in the basement?? And then at the end you want me to believe that Polly INSPIRED Tegan to become a nurse? Inspired???????? Tegan that woman held you HOSTAGE I think you have Stockholm syndrome sweetie.

Also justice for my boy Big H (Hank) he needs some sort of award for not running for the hills away from Polly!!!

SPOILERS BELOW

LOL. I just finished the book two days ago. But yes WHY did she not tell the police? Because Polly happened to see her brother try to kill her? Because Hank told her Polly was a good person who just needed help? But this lady kept her hostage and also showed up to the hospital to obviously do some kind of harm, otherwise why would Tegan think she was there? If anything, Tegan would be sparing a future victim by telling the cops.

And maybe I missed this, but why did Hank not stop this earlier? Glad he eventually was like "this is crazy, i'm saving this girl from my crazy wife who has some weird vague plan of convincing her to give up her baby while I trap her and her infected broken ankle in my basement" I seem to remember Polly saying she would tell the cops something, but I don't remember what that was?

My biggest problem is actually her brother being the one to try and kill her. This was a HUGE leap that to me was too much to make sense. Her brother didn't want to risk his ski development deal, so he cut the brake lines of his pregnant sister's car??? And then when that didn't work, he tried to kill her himself at the hospital. Again, her brother was just so evil he was going to kill his only family member, his PREGNANT sister? Insane.

Anyway, this is my 6th (I think) Freida book? And for some reason I love reading them, but most of the time they have these huge plot holes, or twists that leave you scratching your head or say COME ON REALLY. But I enjoy them lol. I especially love reading Freida books after a i've just read a lengthier or "chunkier" book.

You are spot on John!

Exactly, why didn’t Hank just stop Polly earlier 😂😂 he gave her the silent treatment a little like it was just some lovers quarrel rather than his wife keeping a pregnant woman in the basement.

And yes I agree that the brother twist was a bit far fetched, I’m not sure what crazy deals are going down in ski resorts but I’m not sure it’s worth murdering your sister over.

John | 14 comments I think Hank just really liked her meatballs, so he was weighing a life of

1. His wife trapping a pregnant woman in the basement, but there's meatballs

vs

2. Free the pregnant woman, probably lose his wife and meatballs

HAHAHAHA ok i vote Freida writes a sequel from Hank’s perspective where the meatballs are his love interest

John | 14 comments Now that is a fantastic idea Grace! I'm going to preorder hahaha

Haley | 33 comments Okay I get what you guys are saying but I almost feel like you’re reading too much into it!!! I absolutely loved the crash and it is my favorite Freida. Freida is an acquired taste because to like her books, you have to sit back and enjoy the ride. Idk if y’all are sci-fi fans or fantasy, but that’s the genres of far fetched and I love them because I just enjoy the ride. Not all books are meant to be evaluated as if it’s real life and Freida’s are certainly not meant to be read into like that. They’re quick easy reads with fun twists and turns. Sit back and relax and have fun. I think it was awesome that her brother was out to get her. It was a fun unexpected way to end the book and Polly saving her was an even better twist that made it fun.

John | 14 comments Ha you might be right! I did like the book and it had me hooked. I personally read mostly thrillers and I just got into Freida recently. But you're 100% right, they are to be enjoyed in a sit back and relax way, which is why I keep coming back to her books. I can't get enough of them. I'm kind of fun venting here about Crash, and I really just compare it to her other books. I really loved One by One, Housemaid & The Teacher. I'm going to try her other ones too.

Yes I know what you mean and sci-fi & fantasy are my favourite genres! But for a thriller I personally need the motives and actions of the main character to make sense for me to buy into it!

But yes Freida’s writing style and the way you can just enjoy a book in one day will always make her a top thriller author for me

Sarah Mitchell | 4 comments I read this book quickly but did not find it one of her best. I agree that the brother was a bit of an odd twist at the end.

Grace Riley | 105 comments Mod
Yeah agreed Freida books are always good if you want a quick digestible read

Celina | 2 comments Hey there!
I will say I got why Tegan did not tell on Polly LOL!
Also, a big part of me wanted Tegan and Hank to get together! HAHAH, I know, big delusional but I never know what to expect with Freida.
This was a 3-4 star book for me, I was hooked and finished it pretty quick I will say but I did listen to it and I loved the narrator.
