Yes, it is.

Maggie | 76 comments I enjoyed the book, but was rather sad to find out the story was inspired by the true story of what happened to Gene Tierney.

Poor Miss Marple, having to put up with Miss Knight! I kept wishing Miss Marple would just shout at her!

I didn't know that, Maggie. Thanks for that info.

I also enjoyed this month's book. I found it to be bittersweet, with its themes of ageism, social change, and maternal grief. Christie spent the first chapter discussing the first two themes, and then set up the crime with some fantastic foreshadowing in Chapter 2. The murder doesn't arrive until Chapter 5, and yet the story works.

I also loved the appearance of Mrs. Bantry again and how Christie placed the murder at Gossington Hall, the setting for The Body in the Library.

I felt the plot moved along nicely, with lots of juicy characters as suspects and red herrings to keep it interesting. Some of the subsequent crimes felt improbable, but I enjoyed the satisfying and unexpected ending.

Observation: Christie had some fun naming her major and minor characters: Mr. Laycock (gardener), Mrs. Allcock (villager), and Mrs. Badcock (victim).

Teresa | 422 comments I finished it and enjoyed it al lot. I particularly liked the first chapter. Jane pondering on people and how the village has changed and the new 'Development' and yet human behaviour stays the same. I've always enjoyed the way she compares someone new with someone she knew or knew of in the past.

Cindy | 107 comments Another enjoyable read! Despite Miss Knight’s hovering and patronizing - that set my teeth on edge.

I had my suspicions on this one from the beginning and this time I was right. I think this is the first time in all the Christies we’ve read that I’ve been on the right track. 🤣

I've noticed funny names in other Christie books but missed it in this one. Thanks for pointing it out! Too funny!
