This one shouldn't be too difficult to find.
I think the new rule about budget probably discouraged people. It puts a limit on what can be suggested.
Figuring out what short books are out there, then surfing to see if libraries have these books, or depending on public domain listings (which usually means classics, and those become a bore when suggested too often), or knowing where to 'yarr-harr-harr'. Just a guess.

I take your point. By stating a new rule, I don’t intend to put restrictions on what a member would want to suggest. You are certainly not restricted to nominate only public domain or classics, you are free to suggest any book you feel will make a great bookclub pick and urge more reads to join in and contribute to a fun and engaging discussion. But sometimes when a book is rare to find a reader can be discouraged from picking it up as well and sometimes books are also available in one country and not in another. I hope you understand what I mean.

♥ Sandi ❣ | 143 comments I have ordered our winner thru my library, so should have it within a few days. But I have reservations. Much to everyone's chagrin I am not a Tolkien fan and this being an unfinished book, along with also being a translated story, has a number of hits against it for me personally. However, never let it be said that I was a quitter. I will get the book, and hopefully read the book, all the way through, AND maybe I will like it. 🤷 But I will give it the old college try...lol!

Cpt. Disco (captaindisco) | 24 comments Can relate to Sandi. I suggested this book because it's been untouched on my shelf for years now.
I had picked it up once and found it difficult to get through Tolkien's writing despite Kalevala (the finnish epic in which Kullervo is a character) being of interest to me. Hopefully it'll be easier now with the input of this group hehe
