Ok, since the most recent JF NR thread disappeared, lets start a new one.

I was reading the Father Brown series by G.K. Chesterton but I am finding a steady diet of them somewhat boring. So I ordered a number of books on the library Web site and picked up an Ellis Peters' Cadfael to reread. I think I'm going to buy the Father Brown omnibus for occasional reading.

I did some searching on it, and came up empty, my library does have it ordered though, but not the STORM books

As far as I know the STORM books do not exist.

HEAT WAVE is supposedly the book that Castle is promoting on the TV series. (I wish I knew who wrote it.) His previous books are mentioned, but they won nonexistent awards and supposedly Castle killed off his hero in the last one. That is why he is shadowing Beckett and creating a new character.

I haven't gotten too far, but it's fun. It doesn't say who really wrote it. I thought it might on the copyright page, but it doesn't.

I would love to know who really wrote it. I figure either James Patterson or Stephen Cannell.

I was thinking the same thing, but Wasn't Michael connelly in for a poker player in the first episode?

JF 206 Bones enjoyed it and wished I had more time to read it this past two weeks

NR Child 44 enjoying it, definitely, but it is rather depressing to read of Soviet conditions first hand, similar to the pain and cruelty exposed in The Book Thief and Angela's Ashes. Hope to finish the audio this week
Undone agonizing over this one, also overdue. Once I get the library book due dates out of sync I am doomed.

Came home this morning and was Trick and Treating with Robbie in the rain. His two cousins where there too so we took them because their mom is expecting twins (Robbie's dad's sister)and she's on complete bed rest she was in the hospital but they sent her home last night or this morning she's not due until around the end of December.
Believe it or not the shore was almost 70 degrees when we left it and sunny by the time was got up way home it's was overcast and it was raining all day here so far my niece said. And the kids are still out trick or treating. I'm in hiding so don't tell anyone Didn't buy any candy this year.

we had a whopping 4 kids come to our house. not even all the kids in our neighborhood were out last night. we decided that next year, we'll buy candy for the kids who always come and deliver it to them, then go out to dinner..lol

Ooh. I had vowed to do this, and got off-track. I watched the series on PBS, but it just isn't the same as reading them. So many books, so little time...

I've decided this was my last year. The neighborhood kids, what few there are, must have gone elsewhere, and instead we got a carload of imports who must have driven around to houses with lights on, and teenagers with little to no costume, maybe a supermarket plastic bag, and one who had nothing, not even a bag. My niece went up to the house with the kids or her husband or the other grandma (with marina). And she was told her one house she was the first in 5 years that ca
me. I didn't really check out the total candy received but know that at 3 houses at least they just got a blowpop. You figure you are out walking in the rain and that is all they get. Well alot had a bowl and they were told take all you want. Alot of the kids we passed or the ones I saw outside my complex were alittle too big to be out treat or treating but they were. Robbie was a Dinasaur this year. I asked him if he was Dino and he said no he was Robbie. . Marina was a pink pig and Francesco was a mummy. Growing up I had great costumes. Because they went though my cousins and sister before me. They weren't like the ones they have now a days.
I had in the beginning years alot of kids but then it got to be buying alot of stuff and ending up with no kids and either eating the stuff myself or giving it to my niece's husband to take to his body shop for them to eat. So last year I didn't buy anything and this year.

My nephew got married late yesterday afternoon, so I didn't buy any candy this year. We only had about 10 or 12 kids last year, so I figure next year we'll go out to dinner and blow off the candy thing! The wedding was fun! Some food, some alcohol and lots of good company. It was a Halloween themed wedding and casual, so lots of people showed up in costume.

I am glad the wedding went well. That was a fun idea to play up the Halloween theme.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her teenage son to the Addams Family theme minus the lyrics and she & my nephew went back up the aisle to the Munsters theme! The reception featured Halloween themed music, too, from Nightmare Before Christmas and Twilight with Tubular Bells and The Monster Mash thrown in and lots of stuff I wasn't familiar with. The wedding cake even had jack-o-lanterns on it!

JF Child 44-- hard to believe this intricately plotted and suspenseful book by Tom Rob Smith is a debut novel and easy to see why it has been nominated for and won book awards. Just about as hard to read as The Book Thief or Angela's Ashes with disturbing images of the depravations of Soviet life in the 1950's.

Dear Mrs. Roosevelt Letters to Eleanor Roosevelt Through Depression and War I couldn't resist this book at the library Saturday - a glimpse into the experiences of someone I admire.

Nine Dragons about 1/2 done, just a good comfortable read The 7th Victim forensics, fbi profiler and serial killer, need I say moer and Evidence of Murder A Novel of Suspense a new author discovered this summer, set in my hometown, she gets the details right on my city and the plot is superb.

I took all the front books off my big bookcase from the bottom 3 rows trying to find a book I was told about doing the summer that I know I have trade size some place. It's The Island by Victoria Hislop she came out with a new book which I picked up. Trying to put everything back to fit like I took it out was interesting and somehow I came up with extra room. Not much but It's looking better. I have two more shelves to do (did 3 already) my luck the book will be on neither. then I don't know where it could be. It's really hiding on me. Almost done with The Diary by Goudge. Found what I think will be my next book if I end up staying home this weekend. I'm still reading The Pulse by Sapphire. And I'm also thinking of starting one of the mysteries. Whether cozy or regular. Haven't decided if I'm going to do those two shelves today or save them for tomorrow if I'm home. So far the cds have been Michael McDonald, Michael Bule's newest and now Dido. Haven't decided who is next.

I would agree with that statement. I am thoroughly enjoying Hardball. I love catching up with favorite characters in VI and her friends, the Chicago setting and the intricate way Paretsky weaves everything together.

JF: To Catch a Kiss by Karen Kendall read all day today and started and finished another book. And I wasn't even a book I picked out yesterday I just pulled this one off the shelve this morning. A little romance, A little mystery
Don't know what I'll pull off the bookcase next. Never got the two other shelves done I wanted to do maybe tomorrow.

Loved the audio version of Caught Stealing though a couple of the more violent scenes were almost a bit too much for me (especially listening on audio since you cannot skim).
