🎯 Each task is worth 5 points.
Scoring Rules:
👉🏻 You do not need to complete all of the tasks in any section. Tasks may be completed in any order.
👉🏻 Each task can only be completed one time.
👉🏻 Each book can only be used to fill one task each time it is read. Different team members may read the same book to fulfill a different task.
👉🏻 Books may be moved from one task to another at any time until the final score has been reported.
Book Rules:
1. Books must be started and finished in the specified time period to qualify.
2. You may read any format - paperback, hardcover, ebook, or audiobook.
3. Each book must be at least 175 pages, based on the version you are reading. For audiobooks & ebooks use the page numbers for the first physical edition that comes up on the GR page. If there is no physical edition to confirm page length, audiobooks over 6 hours will qualify as will ebooks over 200 pages.
4. Graphic novels will not be accepted.
Toppler books can count toward the group theme read and/or the monthly and/or yearly challenge, if they qualify. Please remember if you are reading a book that fits the monthly theme, you must still discuss the book in the appropriate thread in order to receive that badge.
*If you are reading books for the toppler that also fit the yearly challenge, please report them as you complete them instead of saving them up until the end. This makes keeping up with the reporting easier for Janice.
If you are sharing your reads on social media, you can let us know what you are reading by adding #tbrtoppler.

I don't know if you saw, but I had modified my post for the toppler and won't be able to participate in the Toppler. I have to head to Raleigh Friday and don't think that I can give 100%.

Let me know if you have any questions. It was very clear to me as I was writing it, but you never know if the wording comes across properly.

No. It has to be the exact number of letters in the title. So only a title with 5 letters will count for 5. Only the year and number of pages you use the last number. Side note - In those cases for number 10, it needs to end in 10, not just 0.

Hi Jannene - Yes, we are working in teams now to coordinate our reads.

Just wanted to add that sub-titles and non-letter or -number keystrokes do not count. So, you could use something like Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald for one letter because the title is Z.

That's correct, Katrisa.

Team captains / scorekeepers. Please message me with your final score and list of participating teammates. Thanks!

We are jumping on the listmania bandwagon. Janice has us listing things alphabetically for our annual challenge. We are going to list things numerically for the toppler. This toppler will take place from Saturday, February 22nd, 12 noon ET to Saturday, March 1st, 12 noon ET. We all begin and end at the same time. A countdown to the toppler can be found here: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown... Please be sure to check in with your team prior to the reading start time in order to coordinate your reads.
Complete the numbers 1-10 in each of the following categories:
1. Series
* First through tenth in any series.
*Whole numbers only, so books such as #1.5 will not count.
*If a book is #4 in one series and #9 in another, you may use either number. Must be able to show this on Goodreads.
*Likewise, if it is listed on Goodreads as #3 in publication order and #1 in sequential order you can use either. However, you must be able to show it on Goodreads. If you know the books were published in a different order or find the information elsewhere it will not count.
2. Title words
*This is the number of words in the title.
*Small words or individual letters such as "A" count as a word.
*If numbers are written numerically (eg. 100) it will count as one word. If spelled out (eg. one hundred) it will count for however many words there are (2 in example).
* Hyphenated words count as one word.
*Sub-titles do not count.
3. Original publication year
*This may or may not be the edition you are reading.
*Year must end with the number you are working on. Just the last number is important here. So, 2024 will work for 4.
*For #10 the year must end in 10 (eg. 2010), not just 0.
4. Letters in title
*This is exact number of letters in the title.
*Spaces and punctuation, including hyphens, do not count.
*In the case of numbers, count the keystrokes not including spaces. So, 100 = 3 letters and One Hundred = 10 letters.
* Sub-titles do not count.
5. Original publication day
*This is the day of the original publication. It may or may not be the edition you are reading.
*It must be the exact day. So, the 3rd day of the month, not the 13th or 23rd.
6. Original publication month
* Same as day, except using the month. January = 1, February = 2, etc. November and December will not qualify.
7. Pages
*Number of pages must end in the exact number you are reading for.
*For page numbers, you will use the edition you are reading unless it is audio or ebook, then use the first physical copy that comes up for the book.
*For audio, we will add an additional option. If the audio you are listening to has the exact number of minutes you are reading for you may substitute it for pages. So, if your audio is 9 hours and 6 minutes, you may use it to fill the 6 page option. It may not be 16 or 26, etc minutes. You must be listening to the audio to use this option.
