Joanna (walker) | 2278 comments Here is a place for questions about the Choose Your Own Adventure subchallenge for Spring 2025.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments 15.4 on the Mystery trail:

Let's grab one: will you take a book from your IRL bookshelf or your virtual TBR shelf?

Is my IRL bookshelf the physical books I own and my virtual TBR shelf the digital books I own?

IRL = books you own physically
TBR = digital list of books you want to read (such as your Goodreads “Want to Read” list or your Libby Wish List) but do not yet have (so something you’d get from the library or acquire after the start of the challenge)

message 13: by Claire (new)

Claire | 112 comments Is it enough to post the paths or do you also need the books that go with it in advance?

message 14: by Valerie (new)

Valerie Brown | 3263 comments Hi Claire - I did see your question in the planning thread but didn’t jump since I’m not a mod. However, I do know the answer 😆. You don’t need to post a plan if you don’t want to or you can post a whole plan (or if you like me you can post a plan and then not follow it - ha, ha). I hope this helps.

message 15: by Apple (new)

Apple | 951 comments Thanks Valerie 😊, this is correct

message 16: by Claire (new)

Claire | 112 comments Thank you. I know what to do then…

message 17: by Apple (new)

Apple | 951 comments Only your first book has to be either of those genres, after that, you are free to choose whatever you like 😊

Tien (tiensblurb) | 3094 comments For "far future" - would 2058 be far enough?

Holiday in Death (In Death #7) was published 1998 so 2058 would have seemed to be the far future lol

Kathleen (itpdx) (itpdx) | 1720 comments 15.2 in the mystery path, it asks for a book whose title includes all the letters in “HOLMES” or “POIROT”. Does that include subtitles?

Yes, you can use subtitles 😊

Joanne (joabroda1) | 577 comments I need some clarification on my second Fantasy prompt. It wants you to choose between past and future. The prompt mentions Pern, which is, in fact is the series/book I am reading. From the text, it appears they are placing Pern in the past, while I am thinking future. Any idea which one I should use?

Granted, I've only read the first three books of the "Pern" series, but to my recollection it lacked the technological innovations that are normally hallmarks of a "far future" society/world. Since you're further along in the series and have a better understanding of where in the series' timeline you are, I think you can best answer this and we defer to your decision on which path, far future or ancient world, it belongs to. :-)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 577 comments Thanks Anika. I am going to have to go with the far future, even though the technology is not there. the year is somewhere in 2600's
