Great, Corrie! Welcome, and I hope you enjoy the reads and discussions.

Hello everyone,
Here are 6 titles in the area of medical mystery/thrillers - a mix of fiction and non-fiction. Please take a look to see if these books are accessible. If any come up as hard-to-find for several people, I have some backups to offer instead/in addition. We'll read these from March through August.
The Poisoner's Handbook: Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York, Deborah Blum
The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements, Sam Kean
Murder by Degrees, Ritu Mukerji
The Surgeon (Rizzoli & Isles #1), Tess Gerritsen
Postmortem (Kay Scarpetta #1), Patricia Cornwell
Coma, Robin Cook

I’m glad, Sheri! I feel like Gerritsen and Cornwell are so well-known in this area, we had to have them. I’ve read that Coma suffers from the era in which it was written, with lots of smoking and misogyny ;). But it’s sort of the OG in this area, and I’m pretty interested in reading it. Murder by Degrees seemed off-the-beaten-path, and the non-fictions will be so interesting in a different way.
Let's plan on the order below. I'll get the discussion threads set up. The July and August ones should be juicy beach reads :)
March - Coma, Robin Cook
April - The Poisoner's Handbook: Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York, Deborah Blum
May - Murder by Degrees, Ritu Mukerji
June - The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements, Sam Kean
July - The Surgeon (Rizzoli & Isles #1), Tess Gerritsen
August - Postmortem (Kay Scarpetta #1), Patricia Cornwell

Our next collection (March - August) will be crime/mystery/thriller books with a medical theme. I'll have the list posted in the next week, so, stay tuned!
