In Spotlight and Shadow by Rachel Scott McDaniel ~ (through 30 April)

Just started this last night. This is my first novel by Rachel Scott McDaniel and I am LOVING her author 'voice' so far. So witty!
Glad to hear that, Kate! I’ve recently discovered that I love her voice too. I was so happy to find a copy of this book on Mardel’s clearance racks a little while back.
Missy, I agree! So pretty.
I’m still working on the Tagg book at the moment, but I’ll start this one as soon as I can.

Nice!
I began this book yesterday (still haven't finished Tagg's, but I was in a book-starting mood). Both leads have already hooked me, so I'm hoping I'll fly through the pages next week.

Kate, I came down with another sinus infection last week, then hosted a writing party and helped clean up a tree that was ruined in a storm over the weekend. I'm hoping to get back to reading this book later this week. So sorry for the delay!
Thanks, Kate! I way overestimated my energy levels coming back from stacked-up sinus infections to kick off the year.
as someone who is also prone to chronic sinus issues, I feel your pain and hope that you're feeling much better soon!
Thanks, Kate! I haven't had any in a while, and then I got slammed with them. Recovery has been tough because of the exhaustion levels, but I'm making it.
Yes please! It's in my current stack, but life's been especially busy. Funny how when I finally think I have time to read, life throws all sorts of events in the way? Hehe. Still want to read and discuss this one soon!
I've gotten back to this book, but because I'm editing on a tight deadline, it might just be a couple pages at a time.
I'm loving the mystery in the historical thread. I want to know who stole the jewelry! That's definitely keeping me intrigued in these early chapters.

I loved that part too . . . and I had my suspicions of whodunnit, but it was definitely more complex than I'd anticipated! (But the best mysteries almost always are, methinks.)
Totally fun that the leads in the present-day era are going to help each other out. One month to conquer stage fright? I'm curious!
Sounds great. I'm still chipping away and will keep commenting. I cannot believe how busy life got as soon as I signed up for this!
A century earlier…
Sophie Walters longs for center stage, her name on the marquee, and all that jazz, but climbing her way into an acting career is more difficult than she imagined. Having spoiled all her chances in Hollywood, she returns to Pittsburgh, accepting an insignificant role in a popular production. She watches her dreams pass by from behind the curtain at the illustrious Loew’s Penn Theatre. She finally gets the coveted spotlight, but not for her talent. No, her surge to fame is all one terrible mistake. Somehow, she’s suspected to be a notorious jewel thief known around Pittsburgh as The Mirage. The man she pleads for help is none other than the man she jilted at the altar five years before, Sterling Monroe.
