Caylin Prince | 8 comments Hi all!

Has anyone ever hosted an in person book launch? How was it, what all did you do at the event.

Im hosting a book launch at a local coffee shop next weekend and expecting about 60 guests :)

Book launches dont happen every day in South Africa. Ive personally never been to one. Most peoples reference is American television and films - haha.

Anyone have tips, how your event went, general expectation?

Caylin,
I have yet to host an in-person book launch. However, I am planning on having one for the book that I am currently writing. Please let me know how yours turns out. Another author told me that her in-person launch party was very successful because she shared it to social media. She used a phone for the Instagram Live for the whole hour of the launch party. Sounds like a great idea.

Caylin Prince | 8 comments After hosting a successful book launch for Decline Pity Parties & Invite Mercy, I would definitely recommend this approach to other authors!

I held the event at a fairly large local coffee shop in South Africa and sold online tickets that included a copy of the book and a drink voucher (which I arranged at a great price with the manager).

I sold about 100 books that day, but what truly amazed me was the ripple effect afterward. Word-of-mouth spread from the event, and within the following week, I received multiple book orders—either from people who had heard about it from friends or from attendees wanting extra copies for their Bible study groups.

The event itself was such a lovely experience. People brought friends, I met new faces, and there was a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I only gave a short two-minute speech and then spent the rest of the time walking around, signing books, chatting, and connecting with people.

’d highly recommend this type of launch to other authors!

Anne-Marie Madore | 112 comments I'm happy that your book launch was such a huge success. I'm not surpassed though, you wrote an amazing book.

After way to get exposure is to ask your local library if you could host an event to read portions from your book, and allow time for guests to ask questions. I loved going to these events. It gave me an opportunity to meet other writers and learn from them.

Blessings,
Anne-Marie
