There's so much corruption and Eddie and his team have been (view spoiler)[railroaded since the second they arrived in town. I am really glad that Kate and Bloch were able to go down there too. I fear they're all in a great amount of danger, but if they stick together, hopefully they won't come to actual physical harm. (hide spoiler)]

To Pg 172: I know it's a long shot, but now that (view spoiler)[Lomax's wife has passed away, Korn won't have such control over him. Maybe he'll start to do something right in regards to this case in honor of his wife, who considered him to be a good man. You better start acting like it, Lomax! (hide spoiler)]

Done! This was a good one. It wasn't as Psychological as the other two I have read in this series, leaning more into (view spoiler)[small town politics, corruption and white supremacist groups, but it was still very well done. I particularly like the courtroom elements of these stories. This one had a very high body count too, especially towards the end. (hide spoiler)]

I did get to Fifty-Fifty last week. And 6/8 is great, I hoped to read this sometime next weekend so that works.

It's a great series! I ended up buying all of the books so I can read the ones I missed. Somehow I've read books 4, 5, & 8 but not the others so I need to remedy that.

This is really good so far. I think Eddie is in way over his head with this case as it seems like this whole town is corrupt. I'm pretty sure this Pastor character that actually killed Skylar is the deputy Shipley. Got a bad feeling from him. And now he's killed the original lawyer's secretary which is going to make things a bit harder for Eddie and the others. I like how Kate came in and dismantled the arrest/hearing against Eddie. They were not happy to be taken to task by a woman.

Damn that fake out where the Pastor stabbed someone in an SUV and you think it's Harry definitely got me even though I've read a later book in the series and knew Harry was still alive. I'm glad they managed to get Andy out on bail, the whole sleight of hand thing with the money was very well done. So Eddie and his team now have confirmation that the sheriff is corrupt so I'm interested to see how they use that to bring him and Korn down.

Ok so maybe Pastor isn't the detective, I still think he may be the killer though. And Korn has gone off the deep end. He knows Andy is innocent, he has a video of the actual killer, and he killed the sheriff to stop him from telling the truth. I like how Eddie and the others are handling the case, they're doing well despite the deck being stacked against them. I do wonder how they'll expose Korn and get Andy declared innocent.

I love how it was the juror Korn tried to blackmail over his land that ultimately brought everything to light in front of the judge. And the way Korn just absolutely failed at trying to frame Eddie was great. I was not expecting the governor to be Pastor, that was such a surprise. I'm glad everyone was dealt with and Andy was proven innocent. This was another great entry in the series.

I hate, in the beginning, when the bag guys get so many wins. So glad she was able to take them to task and is now trying to get the case moved and the confessions thrown out

I hate that they didn't call in the FBI right then and there. That would have shook all this up AND dropped the law down on all their heads.

I also hate that I feel like 100% of this stuff would change if more people around there would hit record or "go live" when they get pulled over or even just having cameras around their house. It's wild they didn't set up cameras (front and back) on the cars as soon as they rented one, bought one, anything. think of all the conversations, threats and sketchy stuff they would have!

anyway. . .I guess we'll see how they fight this deep of corruption. Even turning the jury - just awful on all levels (hide spoiler)]

it's odd that Shipley made the prejudice gross statement about "those people" and Korn was a little shocked but okay with it (like he wasn't part of the group). hmmm. . .

and I'm glad they are calling in the FBI but why did they inform them that way? it's odd - I hope there is a plan since the people that are going to attack are the people who are supposed to protect. Yikes!

I agree, really like how they are handling the case - trying to outmaneuver. although what will happen with the juror now? did Flynn set her up to be tampered with so they can catch korn? hmm (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ wow, I agree - the governor wasn't even on my radar! I loved the author's note - that gave us the inspiration and tied these things to real events and people - in at least an "inspired" way

so glad everyone made it out - although I was so sad they killed Francis and his whole family - just to try to frame him for a terrorist attack.

and wow, the murders in the back of the suv - I was shocked he killed them so quickly

I've read 4, 5, 6, & 8 so far. I do own all of the books as of a couple weeks ago so I definitely need to read the ones I missed. I read this series so out of order 4, 8, 5, then 6. But that's the order I got ARCs of the books so couldn't be helped.
