1. All Editions: https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...
- I can’t find a specific day the book was published. The publication date should just be September 1990 with no date.

2. First Edition: The Brains of Rats (ISBN 9780910489287)
- The publisher is incorrect. It should be Scream/Press.
- The publication date is incorrect. It should be September 1990.
- Michael McDowell needs to be added with the Introduction role.
- I believe “signed slipcased edition limited to 250 numbered copies” needs to be removed from the Editions field. I’m holding an original copy right now (shoutout to getting cool old books through your local library’s Interlibrary Loan program, speaking as someone who is not a librarian on Goodreads but is a librarian in real life it’s definitely a service worth using), and it has the ISBN listed above, but it is not signed. Doing some research and seeing photos of both signed copies and unsigned copies leads me to believe that there were more than 250 copies of this book published, and they all used the same ISBN, but only 250 of them were the special signed edition. Since the ISBN here can refer to both signed and unsigned editions, this specification about signed editions should probably be removed.

3. Dell Paperback: The Brains of Rats (ISBN 9780440213734)
- Michael McDowell needs to be added with the Introduction role.
- The description is incorrect. It should read as follows, transcribed from the back cover:
CUTTING EDGE
A surgeon lifts his scalpel and begins to cut. A woman cleans her house with meticulous, loving care. A young stud, hormones raging, launches himself across a crowded dance floor with a beautiful babe in his sights. The scenes are almost normal, almost everyday. Except nothing is what it seems . . . .
When the surgeon is done, the patient will be eviscerated. When the house is clean, the woman will see the beasts lying in the corners, and little fingers groping toward her flesh. When the pickup artist makes his come-on, the feverish sex will end in all-too-human terror.
Beneath the surface of our lives, in the confusion of cells, muscle, and blood, Michael Blumlein’s masterful stories explore the stuff of terror: of humans trapped like rats in a world where healers are killers, families are strangers, and lovers are enemies . . . .

5. Valancourt Kindle: The Brains of Rats (ASIN B00X4XHKK8)
- Michael McDowell needs to be added with the Introduction role.
- The description is incorrect. It should read as follows:
When Michael Blumlein’s debut collection The Brains of Rats first appeared, it marked the arrival of a major new talent, earning widespread acclaim from mainstream critics as well as genre stalwarts Peter Straub, Harlan Ellison, Pat Cadigan and many others.
In the World Fantasy Award-nominated title story, a geneticist conflicted over his own sexuality, and the nature of male and female gender roles in general, proposes a drastic solution. The politically charged “Tissue Ablation and Variant Regeneration: A Case Report” describes in chilling detail a surgeon’s evisceration of President Ronald Reagan. In “Bestseller,” a struggling novelist unable to sell his books must sell something else unthinkably horrific in order to provide for his family. In these and the nine other startlingly original stories in this collection, Blumlein blurs the boundaries between horror, science fiction and fantasy, creating a strange and nightmarish world not unlike our own, where nothing is what it seems.
This new edition features an introduction by bestselling horror novelist and screenwriter Michael McDowell.
