Gavin Great book series. I heard the author speak last Novbember and he hinted at possibly a third book in the series. I'm just finishing the Earthseed series now by Octavia Butler, and I appreciated how the two series were kind of positive apocalypse stories in their own ways.

Iris | 69 comments Entertaining but lacking a focus on the natural world that I look for in the Nature Literature group. Here’s my brief review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 23 comments Iris, I agree. The second book in the series has a little more emphasis on nature, because they are living in the wild. It’s set many years later, during a warmer time of year. A small group travels south to the Great Lakes region to search for other people and a new place to live. I really liked when they found their nation’s traditional homeland.

Hayley | 72 comments Just finished this book a minute ago, and I'm a little disappointed in it. I wish there were more women in leadership roles, and more discussion of how the families survived day-to-day. I agree nature did not take a prominent role in the book, but I'll still read the second book.
