Comments on this board should be written with the assumption that not all readers have finished the book. Please take care not to reveal information that might lessen other readers’ enjoyment.

I’m doing audio. Ron rash does the forward. It’s been several years since I’ve read this so all is new. Audio has been easy to follow.

I started this yesterday. The first chapter is violent but beautiful, if that makes any sense.

Carol (fleter) | 75 comments Diane, it makes perfect sense.

I'm at 25%. So impressed with this writing, Jake is a different character just for the way he thinks. Seems to be much smarter than the other guys he's with.

Lori Keeton | 781 comments Jake is interesting because he’s really from immigrant parents. I do love his relationship with Jack Bull how he calls him his near brother.
I’m already at over halfway. Really enjoying it even some humorous moments.

Cathrine ☯️ | 1183 comments Just getting started with this one today.

It goes quickly Cathrine. Listening or reading?

Balin Davenport | 26 comments I’m a bit late to the party this month. The violence and cruelty of the first chapter took me by surprise, but I’m intrigued and looking forward to getting to know this band of desperate men.

I'm going to have to park this one, unfortunately. I can see there is a great book here, but my head is in totally the wrong place for this at the moment.

No need to go there til you're ready, Dave.

Cathrine ☯️ | 1183 comments I'm parked just to the right of Dave.

message 16: by Sam (new) - rated it 3 stars

Sam | 182 comments This worked for me okay till the end with the mating humor that did not. The style of dry black humor in the speech of the characters was perfected by Larry McMurtry if you want more.
