5 stars
Very few books leave me overwhelmed with emotions, this book had me putting it down and regrouping several times. Thirteen-year-old Conor is not only dealing with divorced parents, one living in America and the other living in England with him, he is dealing with his mother's cancer. His whole life has been turned upside down trigging nightmares. In his nightmares a monster tells him stories. It is his coping mechanism. This story is hauntingly beautiful and painful. The illustrations are dark, yet stunning. I highly recommend this young adult book.

I had no idea there was a movie. I don't think I have in me to watch it. I will have to think about it. Thanks for letting me know about the movie.
