this is one of her best works

Sofia | 9 comments What is it about?

Evan Carey | 99 comments I'd read and finished this book the day it came out, lol. But here's my review.

Holy cow this book was crazy!!! ***SPOILERS Lenore Dove is covey? Haymitch was best friends with Katniss's father? And he knew Peeta's dad as well? How are the Everdeen's and Bairds related? Mags and Wieress were Haymitch's mentors? I feel so bad for Haymitch! He lost everyone he loves. I can't believe that Snow gave Lenore and Haymitch poisioned gumdrops! And poor Haytmitch not only watched Lenore die, but he fed her the gumdrop. "Don't let the sunrise on the reaping" How cruel is a person to also burn Haymitchs family alive in there own home? None of this would have even happened if Haymitch wasn't freaking reaped illegally!! He was "reaped" because he was trying to help his girl. They blow that other kids head sky high! The fact that Haymitch scored a one in the training thing is hilarious. And how in the end Peeta and Katniss brought Haymitch geese to raise in memory of Lenore. So sweet! I loved this book, but now I have even more questions. :)

If you watched the movies It will be okay I guess. Without knowing Haymitch from The Hunger Games I think this book wouldn't make that much sense

Soñadora | 4 comments Sofia wrote: "What is it about?"

Do you mean the book in general?

message 12: by Niya (new) - rated it 5 stars

Niya | 7 comments I absolutely love this book. It's definately Suzanne Collins's saddest book, but it was so good. Everything came full circle, and I love how she mentions characters from other books.

Alicia | 6 comments We all know what happened to Haymitch’s life after his games but to actually see how it happened….wow…I dreaded his homecoming and Collins delivered yet again.

Totally agree! Collins, once again, did an amazing job. I think this might be my favourite book in the series.

Sara Jesus (scjesus) | 66 comments I start today. I am in chapter 5. These first chapters already are sad, I can imagine the games part more sadder. Young Haymitch reminds me so much of Katniss, his love for his family and his desire to protect the weakest.

SARINA (sankta_sarina) | 5 comments I was basically sobbing the entire time while reading this one 😭. This book may be my favorite in the series

Oh my goodness, this book crushed me! I knew it was going to be bad, just because we get to know Haymitch later in life, but good lord. Wonderfully written, and she did such a great job of tying in the other characters that you also see later in the series.

Soñadora | 4 comments Couldn't agree more. She connects the stories so perfectly.
I think my favorite tie is the mockingjay pin actuallly because I was such a big fan of Maysilee..

Sara Jesus (scjesus) | 66 comments Chapter 12 - I am already shocked with the dead of the lovely character and the way Snow made that even more miserable. How is possible that I hate Snow more!!! I confessed that I havent read "The ballad of songbirds and snakes" because that I do not like much villian arc stories, if the book was more about Lucy Gray maybe I had read. But I did watch the movie, so I hope the information of the movie will be enough to understant the references.

Sara Jesus (scjesus) | 66 comments Finished part 2 - Aspert fate really hurt me so bad!!!!

the.novelnest | 1 comments Suzanne Collins is honestly one of the greatest writers of all time - I had not expected to cry as much as I did, but I was sobbing only a few pages in. This is most likely my favourite book of all time!

message 22: by Sara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sara Jesus (scjesus) | 66 comments Finished the book. I did not expect that this book made me cry so much. The last pages is when really hit me. He did not deserve to lost everyone. So glad he found Katniss and Peeta. They give him some hope in his life. They give the love that he thought lost forever.

message 23: by Sara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sara Jesus (scjesus) | 66 comments I am curious. For the ones that finished. What was the dead that made you cry much? ***SPOILERS I know that Maysilee is one of the favorites. But for me Aspert made me cry more, because I thought in his father that was forced to train and watch his son be killed.

message 24: by Evan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Evan Carey | 99 comments Sara, mine was most definitely in the end. ***SPOILERS When Haymitch fed Lenore the gumdrops, and he couldn't do anything to save her. That was the part that got me. Not gonna lie.

Yeah that part really hurt.***SPOILERS He win the games but could not save the woman he loves. But Leonore is the reason why he really fought for be in a world without the reaping. Just like Lucy Grey that death was meant to be, even to is really sad.
