Christabelle (christabelleallestad) | 148 comments I’m very happy with Daylight Savings! It’s 7:30pm and I can read outside!

Been working on some fiction over here. I have planned to finish Church History in Plain Language for my church history book. Also working through Truths We Confess for my theology book.

How about y’all?

Ian | 92 comments Happy Daylight Savings! Now, it is dark when I go to the gym in the morning.

I got Last of the Mohicans for a book more than 100 years old, Keep a Quiet Heart by Elisabeth Elliot for Elisabeth Elliot, Discipline of Grace by Jerry Bridges, Inside the Miracles of Jesus by Jessica Lagrone for a book about Jesus's Miracle for a start.

With a quarter of the year done, I am now 50 knocked out but I am struggling matching the "For Kids" topics.

Linda Martin (lindajm) | 131 comments Right, I think all the books marked "for kids" was a mistake. In my opinion only, I guess. A plus might be that the books are shorter. In any case, I'm pretty much avoiding most of those. My library doesn't seem to carry any Christian books for children anyhow.

This month I'm planning to read some memoirs, an Amish novel, the biography of a missionary, the biography of a Christian mountain man, an epistolary novel about gardening, and a book about the Gospel of John.

Linda Martin (lindajm) | 131 comments April was a good reading month for me. I finished eight books.

Best: Ann Judson: A Missionary Life For Burma, by Sharon James
...Because Ann and her husband moved to Burma in 1812 to be missionaries and accomplished so much because of their dedication and consecration.

Worst: Elizabeth and Her German Garden, by Elizabeth von Arnim
...Because it was really a selection of journal entries, not a novel as so many call it. Also because Elizabeth had a very bad attitude toward her house guests.

Surprise: Up From Slavery, by Booker T. Washington
...Because I knew nothing about Booker T. Washington and learned a lot about his life. He was a child when the Civil War ended and sought out an education, then established a college for black teenagers and adults in Alabama. Impressive!

Ian | 92 comments April was a slow month for me.

Best: The Menagerie by Tui and Kari T Sutherland. A boy in a new town in Wyoming and discovers a secret zoo for magic creatures. So much fun.

Worse: The Accidental Keyhand (Ninja Librarians) by Jen Swann Downey. An interesting idea for a world but the execution was so poor.

Surprise: Firestarter by Stephen King. I am sticking this into the Parenting book because how much of it is about the parenting which is surprising.
