Sam and her team are called to the home of Virginia (Ginny) McLeod, the woman who was indicted and charged for perpetrating a Ponzi scheme on family and friends, cheating them out of millions. She was murdered in her garage. Some of us think this character is based on Elizabeth Holmes, the former CEO of Theranos who was convicted in 2022 of defrauding investors and is serving 11 years in a Texas prison. What say you?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I wasn't aware of the Holmes case, but it doesn't surprise me that something like this really happened.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree completely. Not too long ago, I watched a documentary on Holmes. I was sure McLeod was based on her.

Holmes is delusional and there’s something wrong with her. I didn’t make the connection until you asked the question, Sharon. It’s close.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments Yes, it is definitely similar to the Elizabeth Holmes case.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments It does remind me of the Elizabeth Holmes case.
