In All Fudged Up, Allie McMurphy has inherited her grandfather’s historic hotel on scenic Mackinac Island in Michigan. While cleaning the hotel she discovers a dead body in the utility closet who turns out to be Joe Jessop, her grandfather's long time enemy.

Of course, she's a stranger in a tight knit community so she is an immediate suspect. The more Allie tries to prove herself innocent the more people turn against her, making it increasingly difficult for her to get the McMurphy ready. As usual in cozy mysteries, Allie decides she must solve the murder, and clear her name in order to be able to open the hotel.

The characters are typical in cozy mysteries, and mostly likeable. There are several recipes for fudge in the book if you have a sweet tooth. And a new puppy, named Mal (Marshmallow). For me a cozy mystery without a great pet is missing something important.

I enjoyed this cute cozy mystery set in beautiful and historic Mackinac Island. Overall, the story gets a solid 3 stars for the interesting story, adorable puppy and the excellent red herrings. I don't know if I will ever read another book in this series because there's such a huge variety of food based cozy mysteries to choose from, but I would definitely consider it.
