What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this like 7? 8? Maybe 10 years ago even?
The main character is a young girl, middle school I think. It takes place a while back. They say she has Aspergers instead of Autism so.
Pretty sure the cover was just of a young girl with a brown braid.
She liked to hide in the couch for sensory reasons and I think her mom passed away so it was just her and her dad.
There's also like a scene where her gym teacher calls her the r slur or something along those lines.
