Soon... Looking forward to getting back to this series... Read book one a bit over a year ago, haven't read 2-3...

Looks like after this set of 3 books, we can read Cinnamon Bun 6, which comes out in a few weeks, before moving on to our next Ravensdagger series I haven't tried yet...

Yessss! Looking forward to more Cinnamon Bun, but I really hope there's a recap at the start...

Caved and started :D

I forgot how much this isn't quite as cozy as other Ravensdagger worlds I've read... young kid, Industrial Revolution era, shitty working conditions for young adults, etc...

I have hope, as the MC grows up and becomes old enough to make the world a better, cozier, place tho...

This is a shorty, at under 7hrs... and when it's over, I want to continue, just like last time, because things have escalated to the point that we're on the cusp of exciting things happening in book 2, I think...

It's easy to miss years passing between chapters, until the MC says they're 4 now, instead of 1.5, or almost 8 now...

And I keep calling the MC the MC because kids don't get named until a certain age, because this is a rough world where survival isn't guaranteed...

What am I listening to here?

So, this is giving me serious Thundamoo vibes instead of RavensDagger vibes... through Chapter 11 (view spoiler)[and it's really weird having an adult growing up in a kid's body and fully aware of her previous life... I feel bad for her parents--they have no idea... this sort of emotional twister is more Thundamoo's style...

Then the thing with her giving a kid a name accidentally, and it... did it kill him??

The mushroom scientist aspect is interesting. But kinda ominous too. But then, it is called Spormageddon.

I told ya it was off the usual Ravensdagger beaten cozy path... Might mean it's too weird for Ann-Marie tho...

It's definitely going for nature vs tech vibes...

Yeah I finished and I am not sure about this lol

I want to see where it goes... The book is so short that things didn't get a chance to develop... By the end she's 8-10 years old... Based on the covers, by book 3 she's a teenager or young adult...

Finished last night and enjoyed it! I'm definitely still in... (view spoiler)[I was sad that the father died, but intrigued that the other is noticing things are stranger with her daughter... I wonder how she will react when she finds out... will the MC tell her? Will there be a confrontation? Or will she die before she can learn the truth?

I liked the entrepreneur move--there's still cozy moments, with the mushroom growing especially... but the power structure is a problem--the gangs, mob-like bosses, factory workers kept from unionizing, corrupt government... what can one little reincarnated mushroom girl do? (hide spoiler)]

At this point I'd say Ann-Marie seems clearly anti-Thundamoo :D

I assume you don't want to join me for Chrysalis book 1, the Ant-Venture begins... Anthony reincarnates in an RPG world as an ant, and has to survive other critters and nearby town adventurers...

I tried Chrysalis once before when I bought it a year or 2 ago and didn't get very far before returning to buddy reads I think... Giving it another go now and enjoying it... I have 1-3, there are 5 audiobooks so far as there were then, and Jeff Hays and Soundbooth Theatre are recording 6-7 right now... Cold reads hit YouTube/twitch 2 weeks ago...

Seems like the series alternates between above ground and underground dungeon plotlines, from the blurbs... Book 4 is the second substratum dungeon, and book 6 is the 3rd... Reminds me of Diablo, and how every 4 floors the theme changed until you reached hell in floors 13-16 under the church in Tristram..

Sadly, the combo of still being a week behind on BRs and not owning the books makes joining you improbable. I love reading your blurbs on everything though, here and in Vagabond!

I would say that is accurate, there is weird and then there is WEIRD lol

Is the Chrysalis the one narrated by Jeff Hays? Because I bought the box set 1-3 because I love him so much....
