Firstly, I want to thank everyone who has completed our questionnaire. The responses are very interesting and have given our research team a lot of insights!
We are still a little shy of our participant target and therefore are keeping the questionnaire open for a bit longer in the hopes of meeting it. If you have any interest in participating, it would be a huge help to our efforts if you did. Also, if you know anyone that meets the participation criteria, please feel free to point them towards this post. Lastly, if you are interested in responding by have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to send myself or our team a message.
Thank you all again for your consideration!
My name is Justin and I am a PhD student at Old Dominion University studying world literature and literature in translation.
I am currently conducting a study on the intersection of Japanese literature and non-Japanese readers and am seeking individuals who have experience reading Japanese literature that might be interested in sharing their thoughts and opinions via a short questionnaire. Completing the questionnaire should take between 30—45 minutes.
You can skip any and all questions that you do not wish to answer or stop the questionnaire at any time, withdrawing from the study. You will not be asked for any personal or identifying information. Findings might be explored in reports, presentations, and publications; but you will never be personally identified.
You are eligible to participate if you:
- are over 18 years old
- are not a Japanese national
- have never spent more than 6 months continuously in Japan
- have had experience reading Japanese literature
If you meet all these criteria and you are interested in helping with my research, please click the link below and begin the questionnaire. Being in this study is voluntary and by completing the questionnaire you give your informed consent to participate.
Alternatively, if you have any questions you’d like answered before participating, please contact Justin Mejia at jmeji002@odu.edu. If you have questions or concerns about your rights as a research participant, you can contact the ODU Social & Behavioral Human Subjects Research Exempt Committee Chair, Dr. Randy Gainey, at rgainey@odu.edu or 757-683-4794, or the Old Dominion University Division of Research and Economic Development, at 757 683 3460.
