The very definition of fun!

I enjoyed this and found myself intrigued by the bigger plot that's setup here, but after sampling the next book in the series I realized I can't handle this writing style for more than one book. It's a bit chaotic, jumping from one wild adventure to the next, but I mostly enjoyed the parts where we really sat in the moment to get the full feel of them. The trip to study the dinosaurs and the ensuing fallout were by far my favorites.

The sense of humor didn't quite line up with mine, either. It was close enough that I could appreciate it, but it was often a bit too unrealistic/silly/over the top. Those moments also got a little repetitive and leaned heavily on the narrator giving you a "look how darn quirky we all are" nudge. It just wasn't as funny as it thought it was, which would have been fine if it didn't spend so much time trying to convince me otherwise.

I still liked it and would recommend it as a fun read -- although one with it's fair share of darkness, but it mostly glosses over those parts -- it's just a one and done for me.
