This begins a group discussion of our Classics book selection, Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne, nominated by Adrienne. Here you can comment, without spoilers, on any aspects of the book, either before, during, or after reading it.
I read this book some months ago. The first book I picked up turned out to be a version of the book. For some reason, American publishers changed the names of the main characters, and there also has been other edits in some of the versions. I finally got a translated copy of the original book as written by the author. I was surprised again, because I had seen a couple of movies based on this book, and the novel was different from the movie versions by more than just a little.
I am making my way through this now. I had to stop with 20,000 Leagues because of the wacky scientific undersea craziness. Hopefully there isn't a ton of that in here.
