The 52 Book Club: 2025 Challenge discussion

7) Author shares name with character from previous book: For this prompt, we’re looking for an author who shares their name with one of the characters from your previous read (prompt 6). This may be the name of any character appearing in the book. It may be their first name, surname, or even a nickname. The name may align with the author’s first, middle, last name, or pseudonym.

Sample Challenge: In my previous read, there are characters named Kathryn, Mary, Austen, Elizabeth, etc. For this prompt, I’ll choose the name “Austen” and pick Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.

My choice for Prompt #6 was The Last One at the Wedding which revolves around the relationship between Frank and his daughter Maggie. I'll be reading Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead for Prompt #7.

My choice for prompt #6 was Fashion in the Time of Jane Austen and Jane Austen is mentioned most, so my choice for prompt #7 is Ringenes herre - ringens brorskap - en guide til filmen by Jane Johnson. This is the Norwegian edition, and the Norwegian books have Jude Fisher, a pseudonym of Jane Johnson as the author.

#6 was Dead Secret by Janice Frost which revolved around the murder of Amy Hill. #7 will be The Nix by Nathan Hill It's been on my TBR for years.

The main character in my last book was John Milton, so I'm going to read Russian Roulette: How British Spies Thwarted Lenin's Plot for Global Revolution by Giles Milton.

For prompt 6, I read After the Funeral by Agatha Christie. A character in that book is Miss Gilchrist.

For prompt 7, I have just started Victory Over Japan by Ellen Gilchrist.

For prompt 6, I read The Seaside Murders by Helena Dixon (6/30/25). The main character's first name is Jane.
For prompt 7, I read Lady Helena Investigates by Jane Steen (7/10/25).

My last book was The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young so for this one I read Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson, 5 Stars. The name shared is Margaret.

The name Yan

One of the main characters in Lila is John. This had a lot of possibilities for authors with the same name. I read Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
