SciFi and Fantasy Book Club discussion

I just started reading "Dragonflight" by Anne McCaffrey and wondered if anyone thinks it's best to read the Pern series by publication date or look up the chronological order. I am brand new to the series so hoping for some guidance on how to best go through it.

Difficult. I have read this many times since I was a teenager, so it‘s tricky to judge how others might experience it. Right now I am going through it chronologically. But the first time reading a series I tend to favour the publication order, just to follow the development of the author.
