Tears and Tears and More Tears.

Such a heart-breaking children's story of a Gorilla who lives in a domain at the Exit 8 Big Top Mall and Video Arcade, a circus themed mall. Along with Ivan is an elephant and a stray dog. Ivan loves to paint and considers himself an artist. His paintings are sold for $25 with a frame. He befriends the janitor's daughter, a kindred soul who is also an artist. Ivan wants more, wants to see more gorillas and wishes for more for his elephant friend. But how will he get out of the Exit 8 Big Top Mall and Video Arcade?

I don't know how you can read this and not feel for a caged animal.

Loved this book - and The One and Only Bob and The One and Only Ruby. AND I just saw The One and Only Family came out last year and I didn't notice.....on to the TBR it goes! I can't wait!!!

I gave this 3.4 stars, but then I tend to dislike fiction based on real people or animals, plus the high ratings probably gave me expectations that were too high. So 3.4 stars for something based on a real animal is quite good coming from me.
