I just got this book on Audio from Everand. Narrated by Kirt Graves. I like him.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 1472 comments Kirt is one of my favorites!

I started listening to this one. Not doing spoiler tags, but can add them if you want me to.

I am not liking Icarus' dad. But it seems like he has a few good friends.

Poor Helios. I wonder what he did, but whatever the punishment doesn't seem to fit the crime.

Kirsten | 1235 comments No reason to spoil for me. I was trying to decide what to read next. Thanks for helping!

It's like Icarus doesn't know how to have friends. It's weird. And the fact that the diner owner doesn't seem to know about Helios is also weird. I'm really like this so far.

This is so good. I'm so glad it was recommended to me.

Kirsten | 1235 comments I am loving this--I don't know why it took me so long to read it (probably because it's YA). But it's like not really YA--smart writing, big issues.

yes. I almost came to tears at the end, but I was listening at the casino so couldn't. heartbreaking

Kirsten | 1235 comments I’m dying to know the relationship between the Blacks and Gallaghers! Don’t tell me—I look forward to finding it out.

I was shocked when I found out. Like kinda saw it coming, but not really. plus the surprise about Helios. Wow.

Kirsten | 1235 comments Stole his wife?

Kirsten | 1235 comments I’m also curious about the religious fanaticism. Reading as fast as I can!

Kirsten | 1235 comments Oh my gosh! I don’t have Ehlers-Danlos, but I almost do! Ivy too. An my sister. You should see my turnout! I’ve permanently messed up my right shoulder; Heidi’s left knee is a mess. Ivy’s feet are completely flat and spread out.

Please tell me they’re not related.

Kirsten | 1235 comments Okay—different secret.

Kirsten | 1235 comments That was fantastic. And pretty tense.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 1472 comments I’m not reading everything you guys wrote yet but just started and my heart is already breaking for Icarus. Won’t somebody just hug the boy already!?

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 1472 comments Kirsten wrote: "That was fantastic. And pretty tense."

I think the short chapters really ramp up the tension

Jackie | 1489 comments I plan to start today or tomorrow.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 1472 comments I like these friends a lot. I didn’t think I would like them as much as I do. He definitely needs some mother henning

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 1472 comments I super enjoyed it too. It’s funny I was too into it to go to deep in comments and was just going to respond to it everyone after but it honestly feels like we were all too deep in lol. It was so so well written

I was expecting more of a Greek mythology angle so it’s interesting that there isn’t one at all really. Or at least, it’s not super important to the story. Plus Icarus being named after a plant

Kirsten | 1235 comments yes, re myth, but I loved the retelling at the very end, when it was the father who flew too close to the sun

And I didn't have much to say beyond "I love this book!"

I was so absorbed reading it.

Kirsten | 1235 comments Amanda wrote: "I’m not reading everything you guys wrote yet but just started and my heart is already breaking for Icarus. Won’t somebody just hug the boy already!?"

Please! (view spoiler)

Yes! (view spoiler)

Jackie | 1489 comments I finished. I don't think I enjoyed it as much as you all did but it was still a good book. The first half seemed slow to me but the second half made up for it.

Kirsten | 1235 comments I’m glad you at least enjoyed it!

So much better and more likeable than Nathan!

Jackie | 1489 comments Oh yes, much, much better!
