Tobias | 8 comments Hello!
I'm new to Goodreads (only signed up around a week ago). I don't know how I've spent so many years of my life without it. Now I feel so happy finding new books, listening to book podcasts, buying books in my second language. I'm really feeling the hype. In the course of a few days, I've also been hearing a lot about ACOTAR and finally my curiosity has gotten the better of me.

Just as a note, I don't read Fantasy or Romance books if you can exclude the GrishaVerse series.

Anyways, I started listening on Spotify and I'm currently two chapters in. If it doesn't get better in a few chapters, I'm probably going to stop because I would NEVER EVER read the book from the summary. It sounds a lot different than anything I'd enjoy.

SO my request from you, if you've read ACOTAR, is to give me one sentence (or two if you really have to) of why you loved it or why I should read it.

Also friend me because I'm lonely... 😊

Sarah E B (saraheb2011) | 21 comments I liked the first book, it was promising like as Beauty and the Beast, but as the series went on, it went downhill, the world-building (and the writing as a whole) just got a mess for my liking. I am a huge fantasy nerd and can be super open-minded to books, especially fantasy but this was not for me.

Liz~In~Colorado (usershow187510908-liz-incolorado) | 49 comments Ditto Sarah... I read acotar with the masses when it first came out and where I too love fantasy, paranormal etc.. it was limiting in too many ways. Granted- I think we may be a big minority! I even just listened to the graphic audio version which is super well done like a play- I figured sometimes I ve gone back a few yrs later and re-assessed. I got much further but to me the sex scenes were just kinda juvenile and their whole relationship was too clingy. Disappointing to me to ALMOST like an audio better than a real book! 🤭😅

Sorry it's not one sentence and didn’t help you wtr it....
Here is another super popular one you’ll see: onyx storm. Her 1st book in series was good but I almost dnf it.

But the good news is: both Sarah and I love many types of books and love to bookchat so please add me as a friend 😉👍
Happy 📚
Liz🌷

I love Graphic Audio, they always top-tier performance. No matter what the book may be. It is also much easier to tell which characters are which since most characters are done by different actors.

@Tobia I never try Spotify when it comes to audiobooks. I get everything from my local library (both digital and physical copies), Libby and Hoopla

Tobias | 8 comments Thank you for the replies!
I tried searching for the book on Libby but there was a hold time and I wanted to listen to it RIGHT AWAY. (I can be a bit impatient sometimes.) But luckily I have a free trail of three months of Spotify Premium and I was like, aren't there audiobooks. And there were. But I didn't know if I should read the Graphic Audio because it seemed good but also a lot shorter, like a few hours. I didn't want to read some different version but the original. So I'm reading the normal just one person voice thing. Did I make a mistake?

xSourDoughxx | 3 comments It's such a beautiful series. Lots of twists and turns, and a lot of spicy romance. I did not care for the end of the series as much, but the last book really redeemed itself at the end.

This series is what hooked me into SJM.

Tobias | 8 comments Thank you for everyone’s answers! I have been reading each of them immediately once you’ve answered I just wanted to write here to let you know. I’ve started the book and I’m around chapter 22 but I really needed some motivation to keep going. 😊
