Tonya Presley | 1168 comments Several CRs made it to the ZOOM yesterday where we spent quite some time discussing the weather, climate weirding, and changes to personal temperature preferences as we age. And books:
The Air You Breathe
*Mrs. Caliban
Orbital
The Curse of Pietro Houdini
House of Names
(and a series that Jane has been reading that was 'C___ Chronicles' but what I wrote down was not enough to find the books)

*Look at those covers! There have been a lot of reissues, but I'm not sure any has got the cover quite right for this novella about a woman who has an affair with an alien.

Then a long discussion of libraries and library services, which led to Tessa singing this little ditty for us-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs2tP...
Great stuff!

Finally, a recommendation for Eric with Benedict Cumberbatch-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2g6L...
and Dept. Q-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2g6L...
which is based on this trilogy: DEPT. Q: Not All Causes are Lost
Both are available thru Netflix.

Lynn | 2294 comments Thanks for the notes, Tonya. I always appreciate it when you take them because I'm too busy listening (and talking) to think about taking any myself! :)

Tonya Presley | 1168 comments You're welcome! Sometimes I get it better than others, this time was a little sketchy!

Lynn | 2294 comments I imagine it's a beautiful time of year for camping and kayaking out there, Lyn!

Jane | 2247 comments Tonya,

It was the Cazalet Chronicles by Elizabeth Jane Howard. I am finishing up the second volume in the next couple of days. It's 590 pages.

Lynn | 2294 comments Thanks to Sheila's recommendation, I finally got around to checking out Dept. Q tonight. I was interested enough through the first episode, but that ending really hooked me! I'm already totally invested in what's going on there... and I can't wait to find out more about Akram's backstory, not to mention Merritt's.

Barbara | 8208 comments My brother just texted me yesterday saying I should watch Dept. Q so I will be joining you on that soon.

Gina Whitlock (ginawhitlock) | 2266 comments We're watching Dept. Q also. It is very good.

spoko (spokospoko) | 231 comments Started Dept. Q last night, and we’re already pretty hooked. I’ve always liked Matthew Goode and Kelly Macdonald, and loved Jamie Sives in Shetland.

Ann D | 3803 comments Thanks for the heads up on Dept. Q everyone. I like the cast. Jamie Sives was also good in two series that I watched on PBS streaming - Guilt and Annika.

I remember Goode from Downtown Abbey and boy is he different in this show. He is not a Scot, unlike most of the cast in Dept. Q

I had forgotten about him in Annika. Haven’t seen Guilt yet, but it looks promising; I think I’ll put it on our list.
