Hello everyone,

Since my last update I got to meet my two new grandsons! One was three weeks old when we met him. The other was born earlier this week, a couple days after we arrived at our daughter & SIL's place. It has been a very chaotic week.

I have made some progress on my audiobook The Taken Ones. But most of my walking time is on phone calls chatting with family. I am still very much enjoying this story. I'm not usually one for police procedurals but I really like this author's style and story.

I have made better progress on my kindle book Homemaker which was my Amazon First Reads from a month or two ago. I am also enjoying this book, more than expected. It is a cozy mystery which is not my usual vibe.

On the flights I listened to a lot of short stories. The set I listened to this time were all from the Out of Line collection. Overall most were meh, either 2 or 3 stars from me. But they don't require much focus and are quick/short. I listened to: The Contractors, Bear Witness, This Telling, Halfway to Free, Shine, Pamela! Shine!, Graceful Burdens.

QOTW:
We're almost halfway through the year (how did that happen?). Are you all on track with whatever goals or challenges you set for yourself, if any, for the year?

I increased my reading goal a lot this year due to the short stories I listen to. I was behind so far but have now come close to "caught up: with the flights and stories I have this summer. With books I'm about on par with last year.

I am very casually doing the book nerds challenge. Every once in a while I update it with whatever I've read. But I'm not planning around it.

Rebecca | 310 comments Yay, congratulations, Susan! What timing - that baby was like, "Oh no, you can't have grandma all to yourself!"

I've been fairly busy, too; had to go back to work after my long vacation, and then had to do a short weekend trip for a family thing, so I've only got one finish for two weeks.

The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics - I enjoyed this one. It's mostly about one of the Americans in particular, but then also about the school's rowing program, and the Depression, and the German Reich... I thought the author did a good job building a compelling story out of it all.

QOTW: I think I'm still doing well without having goals.
