Hey everyone! A few of us will be reading The Instruments of Darkness, the 21st book in the Charlie Parker series. We’re starting this at the beginning of July.

I just finished up my other book so I am going to get a head start today!

i'm at chapter 20. it seems to me there is less build up with this one, we get to the job pretty quickly. I don't mind that, just an observation. the chapters are short, like usual so I always think that helps. This one is creepy. (view spoiler)[ we got a weird house, a psychic? very interested in finding out more about the house. (hide spoiler)]

When i picked this one up from the library, i saw they already had the next one in the new section.

I’m still aiming for July 1st-2nd. Trying to get one of my current reads done before jumping into this one.

I’m super glad to hear it’s already jumping into the action and creepy! Hell yeah 🙌

I’ve been working so much, I’m way behind on my reading. I’m probably another week or a little more maybe, before I’ll be able to start. Don’t worry about me though as I’ll probably still be working a lot of OT and moving slow. Don’t want to hold anybody up. I’m definitely looking forward to this one!

There’s also something off with the husband. I do not like him at all. I noticed it as well that he hardly talked about Henry and just bitched about Colleen the whole entire time. (hide spoiler)]

I got to the start of Chapter XXII (22). I’m liking the start of this. Lots of questions popping up in my mind and the mystery of the (view spoiler)[missing kid, Henry (hide spoiler)] has me hooked.

I am paused ay chapter 66, page 336. it's bad y'all. (view spoiler)[ i kinda like Mattia Reggio and his wife. I hate that he is going to die. I wished he had handled this trip better, he didn't tell anyone where he was going or anything. (hide spoiler)]
This one has drew me in and when i start reading, i find it hard to stop. I do love this series so much.

I feel this too Tosh. This one has really drawn me in, and I'm already halfway done. I keep thinking, I'll just read one more chapter and then it turns into 5. LOL!
I'm finding it hard to stop too.

I got to the beginning of Ch LI (51) and I like how the plot went into (view spoiler)[Sabine Drew's experience with dead people and how they can contact her. She's such a fascinating character!! (hide spoiler)]

I love this series! And having Louis and Angel in the plot always makes my day.
Plus, the sarcasm is on point in this one! 💕❤️ hahaha

I’m getting started finally. I had no idea the title of this is a William Shakespeare reference. Very interesting.

I am caught up at chapter 74! I agree with everyone, this one is tough to put down. I was going to say the same about (view spoiler)[ Mattia Reggio. I kind of like him too and this is definitely going to affect Charlie. I am so curious to see where this is going. There has to be some connection with the husband and Mara Teller. But it’s also interesting how Colleen is not a completely sympathetic character even though they’ve made it very clear they believe she’s innocent. (hide spoiler)]

Exactly! It’s hard to (view spoiler)[like Colleen because if it was me, that dude would be out on his ass.
But I’m sure it’s the emotional and gaslighting that Stephen has been doing to her for years. She’s like the walking wounded in many ways besides the lost of her kid. (hide spoiler)]

I've got about 100 pages to go to finish this up. I got to chapter LXXIX (79) last night and I just want (view spoiler)[Louis, Angel & Charlie to go all gangster on these white supremacists and kill them all.

I finished up today! I definitely see what you mean with both of those. I really liked this one a lot. I’m excited for everyone to finish up and see what everyone thought!

I finished last night too!! I really liked this one. There seemed to be a few different plot threads going on, but it all came together at the end.

(view spoiler)[I found it interesting that Antonie ended up killing Ellar in the end and saving Charlie and Louis. I was not expecting that!!

The image on the basement wall looked almost like the outside of an insect. From the book, "started to resemble an irregular multitude of limbs surrounding a slit that was almost vaginal."

Woah.

I can imagine that the thing in the basement floor fed off the dead bodies' kind of like an insect does.
I kind of find it horrifying that we don't exactly know what it looks like, and my mind is imagining many horrifying things. LOL!!

I also loved how it looks like Sabine might have been the one that killed Stephen. So satisfying!

I really loved how all the people that I wanted killed (Stephen, Bobby Ocean, Antoine, etc) happened. What a great ending!

Yeah, I don't understand why Jennifer is mad at Charlie for revealing her. I'm hoping in the next few books this mystery can be solved. I'm a little worried about Macy now. (hide spoiler)]

A co worker recommended the Show Evil. I’m so I started watching it today. Michael Colter plays in it. He would be the perfect Louis!

Well if Terry Cruise says no, that is.

I've been meaning to watch this series for a while now. Another horror book buddy recommended it!

I only watched 2 episodes but like it so far.

So I’ve been making progress on this and enjoying it very much, as I have each one of these books. I’m down to the last 60 pages or so, just at ch LXXXIII, when I got to the line that sums this up so well. It’s the part (view spoiler)[ where CP, Louis, Angel and Sabine Drew have just driven into Gretton, and Sabine wants to walk a little bit while the others stay in the car close by, and then “This”, said Louis with feeling, “is all f’d up.” Amen to that! 😂 (hide spoiler)]
