Ty for listening to my rant :)

I've also read the ACOTAR series. Only the first three books though. I 100% agree with you. Weren't Feyre's sisters essentially kidnapped and forcefully turned into faes. I haven’t read this series in a while but wasn't he also responsible for that?
Also "all she did was put a mask on your face" was hilarious thanks 🤣. I never thought about it like that but its accurate.

In The Shadow of the Gods there is a character called Biorr. I really liked him for the majority of the first book because he just seemed like a really nice guy who was a bit obsessed (in a good way) with one of the main characters. He was nice to her and they ended up in a relationship of sorts. Both of them were in the same warband, but later on it was revealed that he was actually a spy for a different warband. He was only there to get information for his real group. There was a huge battle between the two warbands and they ended up on different sides. This was completely fine I didn't like him any less. Which makes sense if you know that there are layers to this story that are too much to explain right now.
Then I found out that he was actually in another "relationship" with someone from his real warband. I was so mad 😭. From then on I just hated him because he was acting like he loved the main character but it turns out he just wanted sex. He basically forgot about her. And you can't even use the excuse that he was using her to get information because she didn't know anything he didn't.
So despite that in the next book, the main character started making some questionable decisions and becoming a horrible person overall, and this guy ended up having better morals than her I still hated him more. For the entire series right up until the end, he genuinely wanted to help the tainted children and free the other tainted slaves. But I just couldnt let go of everything stated above. I hated him. By the way tainted means that they have the blood of one or more of the dead gods and they are hunted and enslaved because everyone is afraid of them.

But did you also grow to hate the main character, given her turn?

Great question. I did. Or sort of. It was less that I hated her and more that I was mad and annoyed at the decisions she was making. But I am definitely biased so 😅. She did get a redemption arc in the last book and ended up being one of the main reasons that the good guys won in the end. She was able to reflect on what she was doing and realized that it wasn't OK (mostly because she found out that the person she cared about the most was also tainted but 🤷♀️).
She was only one of three main characters so even when I didnt like her I had other plotlines to follow that kept me going. Her story was very interesting though. I feel like she was the character that conflicted me the most throughout the series.
As I'm writing this out I'm starting to wonder if she was a better answer to this prompt than the other guy. But I feel like my hate for him and the change of opinion I had was more cut and dry. If that makes sense.

Have you ever changed your opinion of a character partway through a book or series? Why?
