It’s about a dress. A valuable blue sequined dress worn by a famed actress in a film from the 1940s. For some reason everyone thinks video storeowner Noah Valentine has it. Which might not be a big deal except that it’s connected to the murder of a prominent Hollywood costumer.

In the second of the Pinx Video Mysteries, Noah attempts to solve the mystery of the dress. To do so, he must confront a legendary film icon Wilma Wanderly, hunky police Detective Javier O’Shea, the dowager Queen of Watts and a couple of bitter ex-friends.

I found this series 4 years ago and I’m still loving it. So this is a re-read for me.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the first one. Especially with it being set in the 90's and being a 90's baby, it feels very nostalgic.

I'm looking forward to some romance this time.

For me it’s very nostalgic. I lived through this time era. Lost many friends to aids. As for tall, dark, and sexy Detective Javier. It’s a slow burn romance. But finally, he’s finally coming out of the closet.

Doesn't it feel weird reading these books while the LA riots are going on? Like history repeating except it's immigrants instead of black people this time.

Not sure if this is only brought up in book 1 but still it makes me sad.

Yeah, you’re right. It’s like history does is repeats itself. It was sad then , it’s sad now 😢

I love all the characters. Louis who’s bubbly and always playing mother hen. His partner Marc, who’s so much more practical and calm. But then there is Leon, who’s a bit of dick. How the hell did he ever become friends with them all,🤷‍♀️
