Jane Fitcher | 6 comments Some truths whisper. Others scream.

When a single betrayal unravels the fabric of her carefully kept life, Lila is left staring into the void, where certainty used to be.

Desperate for answers, she hires a private investigator with silver eyes and a presence that unsettles more than it soothes.

But some truths come at a cost.

The deeper she digs, the more the lies multiply.
Family. Marriage. Even her own memories begin to shift.

As buried secrets claw their way to the surface, Lila must reckon not only with the man she thought she knew, but with the woman she’s become.

In a world where deception wears a familiar face and trust is a fragile thread, she must decide:

Is she hunting justice… or running from a truth too devastating to face?

Book Title : Lies I Can’t Unsee
Genre: Part Psychological Thriller with a little Family Drama. With a bit of suspense, and a touch of romance. But no Hmn… bedroom scenes 😬🤩😊

Thanks in advance,
Jane Fitcher

Fiona Hurley (fiona_hurley) | 77 comments I'm intrigued, but it is a little too vague to grab me.

For example, what kind of "single betrayal", and from whom? Is Lila staring into a literal "void" or a figurative one? Which family members have been telling her lies? Did she find out some secret about her parents? Is her husband "the man she thought she knew"? Does she have children who may be affected by this? What is the "truth too devastating to face"?

I've a feeling you're trying to hold something back in order to keep the mystery, but there's such a thing as being too mysterious, and you need to give the reader something more tangible to grab the imagination.

This person is not asking for a beta reader. Don't spam please, thank you.

Jane Fitcher | 6 comments Fiona: Thank you so much for your honest feedback. I’m really glad you shared it, that was actually my intention, not to give away the whole farm in the blurb 😊 Every reader is different, and I truly respect your preference. Thanks again for taking the time to leave a comment!

Ellen | 17 comments Hi Jane,
Yes! I love the opening and it makes me want to read on. That said, I'm with Fiona: if you gave up just a nibble more it would pull me in deeper.
I'm new to Beta reading, have proofed a few manuscripts and done some light editing for a friend's work - all fiction - but that's it so far. Which is why I'll offer to read and opine for free.
I'm looking for an author whose work I can get to know and start honing my skills.
Let me know if you're interested.

Ellen | 17 comments My apologies Liz. I get the sensitivity to scammed, read a detailed post about that. I'm for honest and for real, just introducing myself.

That's fine, but please do not offer your services in this section. There are other places in here where you can do that.
