Beta Reader Group discussion

Hello,

I am seeking readers for a nonfiction work beginning with the first several chapters and hopefully moving into review of the entire work to assess continuity and interest.

In late 2020 I left a 30-year relationship with an emotional abuser and began trying to sort out, through self-reflection and therapy, how I came to be a person who would tolerate such a life for so long.

In late 2021, I left my home state in a tiny camper and set out in hopes of accelerating the healing process (diagnosed cPTSD) as well as getting away from much of the lingering influence of the abuser and other negative forces.

As I worked toward recovery, I used my MFA in Creative Writing to compose essays and poems that described this process through my interactions with nature and people in Southern and Eastern America.
Many of these essays were “blogged,” but many were not.

In this manuscript, I have compiled these essays and poems and expanded upon them. Word count ranges from approximately 500 words to 1500 words per essay with most essays falling under 1000 words making them compact and digestible.

As one might expect, given the nature of my marriage, there are mentions of psychological abuse, as well as references to a previous physically abusive relationship, depression, and suicidal ideation although these are not the focus of the work.

This sounds like a great project. Your intro resonates with me. I was in a physically and emotionally abusive relationship/marriage for 16 years. I also live with PTSD. I prefer not to use the word suffer, as I practice self care that allows me to manage my PTSD without having to use medication.
